Military courts

Re: Military courts

^ there is no way current civilian judges can carry out justice to terrorists, there is no sufficient security for them, they will be under lot of political influence for high profile terrorists... just take Malik Ishaq's case for example.

Re: Military courts

And Malik Ishaq , Ludhianwi , Lakhwi and Hafiz Saeed can be punished by .......

Re: Military courts

Military courts are definitely not a solution, they are part of terrorism problem in addition to corruption. Still corrupt judges are better than corrupt military personnel. At least at some point these judges are caught and punished but till today no one has balls to touch military.

www.dawn.com

Murmurs against military courts have now been turned into an outburst as PTI, PPP leaders categorically oppose the idea.

Re: Military courts

Can we be sure that military officials cannot be influenced to be biased?

We can amend procedures for civilian courts. The identity of the judges, lawyers and witnesses can be kept secret. Agar niyyat ho tau ho sakta hai.

Re: Military courts

Lakhvi will be released as well due to lack of evidence. The civilian courts are toothless and ineffective, the politicians won't allow military courts. The end result would be kill and dump which aggravates things instead of solving them. PPPs previous tenure can be observed to check this scenario. With the passage of time we are going towards status quo, no punishment for hardened terrorists and then we will wonder why terrorism isn't ending.

Re: Military courts

Since PPP is so much against military courts, did they do anything to strengthen the criminal justice system? How many terrorists did they get punished during their past tenure? Did thy enact anti terror laws?

Re: Military courts

LOL... you are asking about a party which created another party called PPPP because original PPP didn't want to fulfill legal requirements needed from parties participating in general elections. The chairman of the party chose to become President instead of Prime Minister because that office gave him 'immunity' from law.

Re: Military courts

Reason to be against Military courts

The terrorists of Karachi can see their death... be it from Lyari Gang war aka Peoples Aman Committee, from MQM or any other party involved in Karachi violence

The terrorists of Punjab, like Malik Ishaq LeJ and all those Shia-Sunni terrorist outfits see their collapse as well.. and we know, PPP, PML-N, PML-Q and all Punjab base parties have their support

last not least, for NS govt, either it is Military Courts against terrorism or it is a Martial law, have your pick.

Re: Military courts

Military courts are not an ideal solution but civilian governments have faced terrorists, terrorism, high profile killers but they sat on their asses and didn't do anything yet. Terrorists kept killing civilians, police, judiciary, govt officials and the politicians didn't move an inch to try solving the problem.

Military judicial official being influenced is also a likelihood, but not from local molvi, an in-bed-with-terrorist-political-leader, chance of them being influenced are very small comparatively.

A middle ground can be achieved if the civilian govt is sincere in solving the terrorism problem and is ready to cut ties with militant wings.

Re: Military courts

They are deeply linked with Mulla , decades of working together , "MMA"

Re: Military courts

The reason the corrupt parties don't want Military courts is because they can't bribe or bully them. That is why the MQM and PPP are against such courts because they are against justice, law and order and good governance.

Re: Military courts

Dharna Khatam hotay hi

Re: Military courts

Well they want to protect the TTP that is it.

Re: Military courts

PPP and ANP the parties struggling against Taliban Since a decade even since Zia times .
Even MQM also for last two years .
Hundreds of PPP & ANP leaders and activists sacrificed their lives in the great struggle
Think before writing . They are doing all for constitution and democracy

Re: Military courts

Then why don't they support military courts?

Re: Military courts

Just a foolish thing to see a man on war front conducting a court against his rivals .
We shall must find a middle way

Re: Military courts

and political parties are not? the reason other political parties with no extremist connections are opposing is because they have ethnic/militant wings too and their dacoos, killers will be tried in military courts and they won't be spared.
