I don't think an independent kashmir will really look after it's minority Hindu and Buddhist population. I just keep wondering since all Kashmiris(Hindu, Muslim and Budhists) lived together peacefully before 1989, what were the Muslim majority thinking when their Hindu brothers and sisters were being tortured to death and pushed out of Kashmir all these years. They must have been good friends and neighbors before all this. Why didn't the Kashmiri muslims rise up against the militants in support of their friends?
The pandits were the original inhabitants of Kashmir. And now most of the small percentage of Kashmiri Pandits that have survived are living like refugees in their own country with all of their belongings and homes destroyed by the militants. After all this, I can't imagine them all living together peacefully considering the horrific events they've experienced.
