No, it's not that people will stalk me, but here's the reason.
My real name is Sohail. It's difficult for Americans to pronounce. When I go to get a haircut, I am not looking for long term relatinoship, they just need to be able to call me when my turn comes. If I tell them Sohail, they say "what"? Then I have to spell it for them. When my turn comes, the lady has no idea how to pronounce my name. They mispronounce it.
So, to save myself from all this drama, I just tell them it's Mohammad. They know how to spell it and pronounce it. They don't need to know my real name and they don't care either.
