If you might have followed the ICC CT you will know that this person let his field setup as it was (again Sri LANKA). It didnt matter if a spinner, a fast bowler or whatever. That is a DUTY of a CAPTAIN. What else!
Even the commentators where making fun about that team.
I think the Selectors should first decide on 11 best possible players who should play in the team and then decide the best amongst them to be the captain. Not the other way round, by sticking a bad player as captain.
If you look at all the talent available in Pakistan, and the recent performances of Waqr, do you honestly believe he deserves a spot in the team? If yes, then sure, make him captain. If not, then he should go. There is no point in keeping him a captain just because we feel there is no one else who can lead the team.
Personally, I am not entirely sure if at his present performance both as a player or as a captain, Waqar should even be in the team. Australians showed great courage when they dropped Waughs from their team. Pakistan should re-evaluate their whole team completely and only play the best possible eleven. Simple!

If there were new players from Australian side instead of Warne, Mattew, McGrath, Pointing, wouldn't they find themselves in critical position against Shoaib and Waqar for the first time?

Coming back to the topic, I think Pointing and Mattew have already played with Pakistan in ODIs. Therefore, they are experienced in playing against Pakistan.
I think Wasim should be given a chance to be a Captain for World Cup, Personally. However, Waqar as a Captain wouldn't work for the team.

So Have Imran Nazir, Younis Khan, Razzaq, Misbah and even Faisal, Only player in the top order who had not played against Aussie was Taufiq.

Saby - It always helps to read the post carefully - I said - He scored over hundered runs in his first test against Pakistan - I didn't say he scored a Century - He scored 76 and 43 in Peshawar Test in 1998.
And BTW he scored 3 (and not 4) straight Ducks before he made that 197.
