Re: zara si baat pe har rasm tod aayaa thaa
It does? Indians say “tod” instead of “tor” or “chod” instead of “chohr”
How can someones **inability **to speak properly become a “variation” in the language?
Sure, people have *issues *SPEAKING with their mouth but writing should be clear as it doesn’t involve the “mouth” but alphabets that make it easier for us to make sure that word is **written **as it should sound.
Khair, “chhodd” ho ya “chhorr” ho, kisee ko kya farak parta hai, haan *SAMAJHNEY *main agar thori baat edhar udhar ho jai tou phir acha nahi hota. ![]()
Re: zara si baat pe har rasm tod aayaa thaa
Janaabe ala isme baal ki khaal kyon kheenchte ho ? It has nothing to do with speaking ability. I have seen umpteen variations of English transliteration.
Ghula, Gulam, ankhen, aankhen, aankh.N et al.
In some cases ‘rishta’ is written as ‘rishtaa’ or ‘rshta’ but with a ‘.’ underneath ‘r’.
I can use that type as well but such features don’t exist here.
Well, we are sharing urdu poetry with members who have knowledge of Urdu language and can apply discernment not with the ones who never knew what this language is. ![]()

Sir jee,
ghulam and gulam SOUND similar... TOR and TOD do not. That is the point. Of course, it has everything to do with the speaking ability. Certain group of people can't prounce R and Z, etc. so that doesn make a 'new' variation in the language.
Consider this:
Thoda *or *Thora? Obviously, thora. Thoda is the deformed word which came into existent because someone couldn't roll out **R **from their tongue.
taiz/teiz or taij? Again, taiz... J is inserted instead of Z because of someone inability to prounce Z properly.
Khair, I am not trying to pick on you so don't get me wrong. :)

Chhod and Chhor are not the same it depends upon upstream and downstream.
Chhod - To give up can also be written as Chhor. Chhor - ends (Is 'chhor' se us 'chhor' tak) (from this end to that end..got the point).
A poet who can't differentiate between the two will not be invited to a mushaira as a shaayar.
taiz/teiz or taij? Again, taiz... J is inserted instead of Z because of someone inability to prounce Z properly. I agree 'Z' is like z in Bu'zz'. It can be 'tez' also.

Arre yaar aisa kuchch nahin hai. Since there are no well defined procedures for transliteration, variations do occur. Assuming the existence of a perfect transliteration....we can't teach a gunslinging cowboy to narrate shayari. *

Basic knowldege of Urdu is a prequisite..that's enough.
