mendhi plates/trays

Re: mendhi plates/trays

Coool thanks so much guys, this is such a great idea :) I guess you could use styrofoam to make a big tray like maham said, but you could also use it to make smaller trays for other girls to hold and decorate them all yourself.. coool! Can't wait to get stuck in!! :)

Re: mendhi plates/trays

oh yeah...you can make anything out of them, at some places you can even find them already cut into shapes... you'll have lot of fun playing with all this stuff... :)

Re: mendhi plates/trays

yeah, styrofoam would be a good idea and we also had smaller trays decorated to same way as that main big one.

Re: mendhi plates/trays

for my sister's wedding we just decorated stiff plastic plates (lots of them) then put a tea lights in the centre.... in southall broadway there is a shop which has typical indian/paki mehndi plates tinsel and tassles, very paki..if ur going for that look. it might we worth having a loo, you may like some of it.. i personally wasn't too keen, but everyone is different! they also had dood pillai glasses too....

Re: mendhi plates/trays

i really want dotted tea lights and candles everywhere... but it's a fire hazard for the 'poke everything' kiddies...

Re: mendhi plates/trays

true enough! but keep your candles in containers and you'll be fine. and you can also order extra long burning time tealights... they'll burn for 8-10 hours!

Re: mendhi plates/trays

i love this low round tables with cushions in a bedoin tent look, all arabic/morrocan theme with lanterns!!!! rich purples, oranges, golds, reds and teals.... drapery and tea lights and scented candles.... what a fab mehndi that would be!!!!

Re: mendhi plates/trays

i know, eh? i did some calling around and its so damned expensive! it would cost me around $1500 to go all out and get that look, plus pay the designer for set up and take down. forget that!

Re: mendhi plates/trays

man, i right now if i could get it for that amount i'd do it!! the bar stewards are quoting me £2000/$4000 for a basic package of a swing and a few pillows and sheets!!!

Re: mendhi plates/trays

Sometimes trying to acheive the whole look yourself could be a cheaper option. My sis and bro will be doing decorations themselves since my mehendi function is at home and is a small intimate gathering anyways. When we went shopping for stuff last week, it sounded like we could get away with alot less in bills if doing it ourselves.

Btw this UK sounds too expensive man! I would have needed to marry a millionairre if i was there.

Re: mendhi plates/trays

For my sis's mehndi, I did the whole decoration. The mehndi was in the club house and it was christmas season so they already had lot of decoration. What I did was rearranged the furniture, got yellow and green balloon, and decorated pieces of tea candles at different places. For tea candles, I did was got different fancy dishes from home. Filled them with water and let the tea candles and scented roases (or whatever that is called) floating on water.
I covered the sofa/chair back with a big chunri duppata...
