........ I actually think there were many more good male posters who used to post here who don't seem to be around any more...
Probably ran off because of threads like this one!
Cannot even bear presence of men even on a CYBER 'Life' forum? :D
yay my first thread, wish I knew some celebration smileys.
Do any of the girls in this forum find it strange that men would even want to be in Life1, in my opinion relationship gossip is more of a women thing, and my husband would not even read this section. I have been on a few multi-subject forums and it’s just my observation but there seems to be 3 distinct type of male found in the love/relationship chat.
1) Pervert/Charmer – The type of guy that trys to hit on girls either upfront or via private msg etc
2) Lost soul – The type of guy who just broke up with his girlfriend and is looking for advice from other women to get her back.
3) Freaks – The rest.
Personally I would never marry a man 1 or 3. I’m not saying we should ban men from life1, I just think that some of the men that roam life1 are a bit tortured and vitriolic and mainly type 3.
The fact that some ladies want to turn this place into a gossipfest and then banish men from here is a whole diff issue. The forum was started for discussions about life and relationships, with our parents, sibling, loved ones, how to manage real issues that we run into in real lives.
There were threads from good friends of mine who were concerned at seeing their parents age, having their parents move with them in US and trying to figure out out how they can help keep their parents happy, busy, socially active, fulfiulled etc etc. thats life, thats relationship.
Thats what this forum is for. Yes a handful of freak guys may have made a mess here, but a larger number of ladies simply can not get beyond simplistic domestic stuff of conflicts between MIL/DIL, drama with this or that with BF or husband, Maybe that is what life and relationships is to them but that is not the sole intent of the forum.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
You will see what is common.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
i TOTALLLY disagree with the original post...if this forum was just females then it would be pretty boring...and wen we seek advice its nice to have a view from both genders...so no matter how much we disagree or whatever an opinion is an opinion
Re: Men in relationship forums?
Life 1 is not relationship gossip. Its women like you zena_uk who ruin the name of all other females when all you ever want from under every stone on the planet is gossip.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
No you got all wrong Cheegum. Its men who are to blame.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
LOL^
I can't believe I'm going to take this stance, but I don't think most of the guys hanging out here in Life1 are pigs. I think they really take interest in what women think, and want to pick up advice on how to make things work (in current/future relationship). Some are in the market and are looking, yes - I wouldn't call them pervs or charmers, but I think the reason why THOSE guys visit this forum is to get an idea of what the mindset is out there so they know what they're looking for when they go on a rishta hunt.
Also, its really helpful to hear stories of how things did not work or did work, to get an idea of what you should/should not do in a relationship.
If my husband visits this forum or not, I could care less because its his choice what he wants to do with his time, but I wouldn't knock down a guy for visiting this place. Its not that you're more manly if you choose not to listen to women's life stories.
What? OMG.. Did I wake up being HIGH? omg omg LOL

Correction; men are pigs.
TO OP:
Shame on you. Your husband must be those close minded men who are careless what goes on in the home (notice how i made an assumption? just like you did! :p) WE men who post here want to give you gossipy women a reality check!
Re: Men in relationship forums?
We do? And here I thought I posted here because I was a pervert who wanted to corrupt all these sweet innocent girls!
Re: Men in relationship forums?
Just to re-iterate my initial post ONLY MEN THAT POST ON RELATIONSHIP CHAT FORUMS ARE FREAKS.
I hope that clears everything up.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
^ What a weirdly stubborn insistence on a narrow-minded view of our male posters.
Why do you keep coming back to hang out with the "freaks" then, if you find them so problematic?
Re: Men in relationship forums?
Wow ... lowest of the low.

Re: Men in relationship forums?
zena_uk, going by your definition Dr. Phil is the BIGGEST FREAK ever!
I frequent three forums on GS - Life, KK-cricket and Cuisine Corner. Does that make me a freak, pervert or lost? I actually find the three interests very balanced. Oh I also visit R&S for some good laughs.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
Maybe Zena is just saying silly things to provoke us and raise the reply count of her thread. That's the only sense I can make of these idiotic claims.
Re: Men in relationship forums?
lol.. every other thread in life1 is about men- he left me, he cheated on me, he doesn't stand up for me, he this, he that. and you think no man should be allowed to even contribute to those threads? so they should just stay away and let the women gossip and rant endlessly because they can't handle a man coming in with his point of view? umm ok. i think what you're looking for is a gossip section.. this doesn't seem like the right place for you.

no funguy... 'thats' not what makes you a freak and pervert :D
Re: Men in relationship forums?
Yeah, I don't mind being called a "freak", but pervert? EWWWWWW
"I don't own a cell phone or a pager. I just hang around everyone I know, all the time. If someone needs to get a hold of me, they just say, 'Mitch,' and I say, 'What?' and turn my head slightly." – some guy called mitch
That joke gets me everytime!
