Men in Jewels

no.
he just looks like some sleeze-bag at a mujra…
no royalty here.

IDK: I'd be a bit put-off to find out my husband had been going through my jewelry, let alone **wearing **it.

Which of the gentlemen depicted in this thread are actually Muslim? Call me crazy, but I was under the belief that it isn't permissible in Islam for men to wear gold.

Either way, half these bauble-wearing dudes have what Michael K. (over at Dlisted) would call "child-toucher eyes"; they give me the hinks!

Re: Men in Jewels

^ Roxx you read my mind

Its rather strange, weird and eerily creepy about men wearing jewelry... it just makes me think why are you trying to be a girl? It also makes me think what else are men going to copy from the opposite sex?

Re: Men in Jewels

haha.....Rox and Sidra......I can understand how you may find it creepy.
men wearing jewels was a trend of the past......and really only royalty.......
its like saying I wouldn't want my guy dressed in a frock with a frilly collar....but if we look back to Edwardian times, that was the attire of nobility.

the religious side of things is completely another thing......in that case men are not supposed to wear silk either.....

Re: Men in Jewels

I think guys should leave the Jewels to the ladies!! Besides....there technically not allowed to wear them anyway lol!

You misunderstand: I don’t find **transvestism **creepy; I don’t like the idea of dudes wearing my jewelry or accessories. Personally, I don’t care if a dude wants to don a pearl choker and pretend he’s Kirsten Dunst in Mona Lisa Smile, so long it’s not **my **pearl choker!

That said: it’s different for Muslim men as their religion has it’s own set of sumptuary laws.

Actually, men were wearing frocks with frilly collars as recently as Adam Ant’s time, but then again I don’t have a problem with men wearing them (so long as the frocks belong to them and not me).

PS: On a serious note: Unless Eddie was dipping into Wallace’s wardrobe again, I’m quite certain frocks and frilly collars were quite out of style by the age of King Edward VIII (at least for men).

I was going to mention the silk prohibition as well, but thought better of it: though all of the outfits look blasphemously silky, I didn’t want to be called an idiot for not being able to recognize 100% pure polyester.

Or, at least be willing to follow through by donning a lengha and a dupatta, as well.

If by "technically", you mean 'Islamic-ally': it's my understanding that they are allowed to wear jewels, so long as they're not set in gold or contain a graven image.

Wooowwww!!! Adorable!

Hmm…that’s interesting…I thought it was the idea of the jewellery…I didn’t for once consider to whom it might belong.

I guess I just assumed that if he is wearing it, he owns it and not his wife.

I stand corrected. The reference should have been to King Henry’s times.
I’m sure Wallace would have thrown a “royal” fit if Eddie was so inclined.

I’m sure most outfits by designers use nothing less than silk…but then again these days it is becoming more and more difficult to tell.

Jealous of guys' jewels? .. I dont think so.

Re: Men in Jewels

jealous of guys that can wear jewels without looking…you know…
:hoonh:

men in jewels look gay. Abhishekh bachan even had mehendi on his hand. GAY!

No, they just look like half-@$$ed drag queens. If you’re going to do drag, do it right.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that! That said: yeah, word on the street is: he is.

Is this a celebrity couple or something? I have seen their pics everywhere…

I’m sorry, but these people look like a joke! If one goes over, you can usually expect it from the bride…in this case…yes the bride has definitely gone overboard with this one…but the groom even tops her.

Gosh, I really hope this isn’t someones family or anyone, I really apologize in advance if so…

No, I was being facetious; I hate Desi men who wear women’s jewelry for the same reason I hate wiggers: they’ve no right to appropriate something (such as fashion) from groups they’ve historically oppressed. I don’t, however, include transvestites or transsexuals in this distinction; they’ve as much right to wear women’s jewelry as we do.

Let’s be honest: unless he’s a magical Genie or a Mughal pimp, it’s probably his wife’s.

I suspect Eddie could work a bias-cut evening gown with the best of 'em!

Oh, you’d be surprised.

Regardless, I (like you) was taught that Muslim men are prohibited from wearing silk and gold. On the bright-side: Hindus aren’t bogged down by any such prohibitions. On the down-side: I’ve seen too many Hindu grooms who look like they were dressed by Liberace himself.

Seriously, Sana: do you ever think before you act?!? This gentleman probably had a long hard day at work, granting wishes left and right, came home to his shiny lamp, logged onto GS and then read your hurtful, incendiary statements! Put yourself in his curly-toed shoes for once!
