Men imitating Women

How many of you men wear ear rings?

I don’t. I think its like imitating women and trying to be like a women, when you really are a man. Eastern cultures do not have this sort of “over the edge ritual” and fifty years ago western culture was also clean of it. Anyway, I don’t wanna sound like telling you what you can do and can’t do, just a question. Take it easy. Bye.

I think those men who wear earings are not trying to look like women but they just think they look cool.
In my opinion, they look gay!!!:supercool:

There are many things a MAN can do to look cool and still be called a "man." One doesn't have to wear something that has been the custom for women for centuries to look cool. I agree with you, they do look gay. Which is another downside and wrong perception of those who wear to those who do not. :)

I hate those men, if they r men indeed!!

Eastern cultures do not have this sort of "over the edge ritual" and fifty years ago western culture was also clean of it.<<

Oye budhoo which eastren culture are you talking about? wearing Ear rings by men was always fashionable in Punjab and rest of north india/pakistan. Only 40-50 years ago they gave it up and new generation is wearing it imitating western people, not realizing that it was hip to wear ear rings in eastern culture too.

i think wearin earing is really stupid i doesnot look cool.
& chan mahi i knnow wearing earin was common in eastern culture back in time but i’m also from punjab n there were two types of culture at dat time too n those were muslim n non muslims ( hindus sikhs) n if i’m rite wearing earings was popular in non muslims .

i never heard dat muslims use to wear earings in dat area.

Watcher saab, it's ok to be conserative, but it's a different story if you are ignorant. Don't label your lack of knowledge as "islamic conservatism" ... let me give you a little course in History .. every problem that us desis face is not "West's" fault, and these issues haven't surfaced in your or my lifetime people ahve been debating over it for centuries .. As some1 said already, men in the subcontinent have been wearing ear rings for centuries ... Jats, Rajputs, etc etc ... and as far as dressing to look like women is concerned .. people in Mughul India invented the idea with their "churi daar pajamay" and countless other article of clothing that were supposed to give " nazakat " to men ..

SO don't just BURP something out 'cause u have a problem with it and no knowledge about it ..

SO beta for your research find this out ...
How did Eating "paan" develop in the subcontinent ..

P.S. Excuse the typos .. i'm in no mood to revise ;P

I don't like earrings on men, but I have come to accept that as my personal prejudice. There are a lot of things that other people do that I would not choose for my self, but then I am not them.

One needs to sit back and look at things from a distance. Earrings are not important. They are silly bits of jewellery in the ears of people. If I care about the people concened, the earring should make no difference whatsoever in my relationship with them because it's not hurting me and it hasn't changed the person.

Often an earring is a passing teen fancy, why alienate someone because of it?

Personally I find smokers more offensive. You have to sit there and bear the smell and all that second hand smoke - that's harmful to both you and the smoker.

yarr for those of you who do…good for you if it makes you happy…for those of you who dont…good for you too

let us worry about ourselves first people before we go around evaluating others…

I don’t like men wearin ne kinda jewellery.. not even rings! ..

Dear Wadi,

As you assumed things, actually you pre-assumed many things in here.
Who mentioned anything about "Islamic conservatism?"
I don't think, I talked about that in my post.
Weather I am ignorent of something that is my problem and only I know of what I am ignorent of, don't tell me. I believe being ignorent is better than being stupid. If you are ignorent of something you go out and learn something about it, and I do that. At the same time if you act as if "you know it all" and don't know nothing then you are acting pretty stupid. Ignorence can be cured, but stupidity is forever ] You said "men in subcontinent have been wearing ear rings..." now tell me is the "eastern society/culture" only limited to subcontinent?

What is for women is for women. If some "mogul" or baadsha invents something that does not mean it automatically becomes the ulitimate adornment for "everyone." Wearing ear rings is a feminine thing and it is agree with it or not.

Kaka jii, no one is evaluating others. We are just shedding light on something that is and at the same time is not...for everyone. :)

Take it easy sir.

Watcher Kaka Janu,

It's "Ignorant" not "Ignorent"
