excellent film, i don't normally watch Pakistani movies the last one i remember was chooriyan, i thought i have a go at this 1 as i'm a cricket fan
its definitely up there same level as Bollywood

Me and my husband finally saw the movie and really enjoyed it. The story was simple yet engaging with some comic relief throughout the narrative. I would certainly recommend it to ppl with kids coz it is entertaining and has the classic good vs bad angle with the good winning at the end without showing any unnecessary violence or melodrama. I don't get why ppl are so fixated on the item song, it's not even that relevant to the actual story, (other than setting the backdrop of one character). If anyone has ever seen ANY pakistani movie, you will appreciate this a lot. I also loved some of the genuine punjabi accents they used like calling chance "CHA-NU-SUH" which i've heard a lot in interior lahore (or DA-NU-SUH).

The song can very easily be avoided by skipping the first ten minutes of the movie. Frankly the song is not that bad and is fairly civilized compared to the sleazy, bust thrusting, dhumka marofying, dance in the rain sequences in plunging necklines and clingy-see-through-lachas-that-are-shorter-than-mini-skirts usually seen in pakistani movies. It's also a lot better than bolly item songs. If it still offends ppl, it can verrrrrry easily be skipped coz it's not in the middle of the movie. The movie itself has normal dialogues and not double innuendos usually reserved for lolly flicks. not only is it family friendly, it's actually made for families. I am actually planning on taking my 8 year old nephew to see it. I know he will love it.

So finally watched it...and all i can say is that from lollywood's angle its a good film.....otherwise no....story wise its just a bad mixture of chak de and say salam india with many loopholes.
mahnoor baloch had no role...seemed as if she is just there to flaunt in glamorous clothes, makeup hair etc....and lol in that song 'masti mein doobi, teri hi kami' it looked as if its the first time she has worn those clothes or first time dancing like that and is v delighted about it. Mathira looked cheap like she used to look in her calling show(good figure she has though).
aini jaffery's role had no relevance whats so ever...such a random character it was.
noman habib was pretty much overacting at points.
and lol some of the actors had dubbing done which seemed pretty off.
shahid afridi in the end looked as if he is doing a commercial....his presence there seemed stupid as well.
Lol at one dialogue 'kasmay khuda di, jis din yeh shera mujhe akele mil gaya tou main is ki gichi maror doon ga' hahaha that was one funny dialogue.
and one of the worst scenes....when shehzad sheikh says humayon saeed 'what will i do now, u were supposed to be my dad.....'that was bad acting there and such random lines and emotions, i mean you have been watching your dad coaching the other team throughout the tournament but you did not say anything then instead you said you have no relation with him. Just found that too stupid.
did not understand shafqat cheemas role...how come he changed all of a sudden...is it coz his bird died and realised things.
songs are not great either apart from "masti mein doobi...teri hi kami hai"...which is kinda of catchy.
Humayon saeed and rest of the cast were ok acting wise.
I wish the films title was something else.....i mean yes they showed one player being his huge fan which was fine but the title on his name seemed as if they will show a lot of shahid afridi element....lekin yahan shahid ka zikar shuru ke chand dialogues mein hua aur phir bas akhir mein us ko la ke khara ker diya.
overall it could have been a much better film.

watched it and i agreed with blessed 2006 that it can be a good movie from lollywood's angle but a bad mixture of chak de india and few other movies, nothing new, very ordinary movie. Acting of young lot was poor and pepsi promotion was really awkward.
