And what is your perspective of betterment? People start hating shielas and munnis or being more accepting to Pakistani actresses emulating them?
Personally, I’d love to see Pakistani film 'industry' emulating and eventually becoming something like a miniature version of Hollywood, with a diverse range of film genres, catering to different tastes and different age groups and demographics. Even many of Hollywood’s romantic comedies like Silver Linings Playbook, Crazy Stupid Love etc. are often thoroughly engaging and entertaining flicks--and are not formulaic 3-hours musicals that may give you a headache by the time you have finished watching one!
But the highest-grossing movies in Pak are not American or French or Turkish movies but Bollywood stuff. And while the English-speaking elites may scoff at them, the preference for such Bolly-style musicals with half dozen or so song-and-dance performances seems pretty much entrenched in South Asian psyche. And those movies are extremely well-received among masses in Pak too, perhaps because the average person has enough problems in their lives that when they buy a cinema ticket to see a movie, they are looking purely at its entertainment quotient and not necessarily realism or an art house movie's aesthetics or some message or social commentary as such.
So if some Pakistani filmmakers try to copy the 'spicy' Bollywood formula, I don’t really blame them. They want to make money too. They’re responding to what the public seems to want besides trying to differentiate their offering from the average “telefilm” or drama that can be watched on Hum TV or Geo for free. And I do think people need to be a little more accepting of our female actors. So if the people can spend their money watching Chamak Chalo and Munnis, they shouldn’t be denouncing or shunning a local film because a Pakistani actress acts in a similar manner. Just like Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif, they are actors and artists, and if they are good at acting, they have all my respect and best wishes.
Nutshell: Josh was a more sophisticated movie than this one but was derailed by Chennai Express, the apple of distributors’ eyes. I’m hoping that at least this movie does well. That's important not only because these movies support the country’s economy and provide jobs to people, but also because box-office success will encourage other more educated, more globally attuned filmmakers to make movies too. And when that happens, over time, it'll translate into improved and better quality output as well.

My cousin saw it yesterday and she is shouting from the rooftops for everyone to watch it. She really liked it and said it's certainly something you can watch with the family. She found it very entertaining and funny (vasay's comedy touch) and for the first time likes humayun saeed. WATCH IT PPL and if you can't watch it then please buy it's music ( it's not on itunes yet)

All recent pakistani movies are available on DVD or on itunes/amazon instant view/netflix. I really think people should wait. I certainly am and will continue to do so even though i am itching to see it.

As far as item songs are concerned, from my experience, all songs in Pakistani Punjabi movies were item numbers, way before this term became popular. And these items were mostly performed by the innocent heroine herself. :)
