i wore one on my mehndi and so did all my cousins/sisters (color coordinated with their outfits) and it looked great :)

My cousins and sister wanted to have 'Punjabi Night.' Which basically was that all the women wore parandas (also color coordinated with their outfits). Men wore large 'ghair' wali salwars. We had punjabi music on the entire night with dhols and food included lassi, chaats, cholay, other punjabi dishes. We werent planning on having a mayon but since we were having a punjabi night, my grandparents insisted that we have a mayon, and this event was termed punjabi night for everyone else and mayon for the elders and I ended up having the mayon rasm that night included with all the other festitivities.

So parandas are definitely not out of style. They probably never will. Obviously, I would not recommend you going to someone elses wedding and being probably the only one wearing a paranda there, then it would look very odd. But if you do it on your mayon or mehndi it should look cute and not out of place at all.

I love parandas for mayouns and mehndis. It looks really sweet and traditional. I've seen them in some indian stores here in the US, where they sell bangles and the like. In Pakistan, you can get them in any market.

guys i am looking for some kind of traditional mehandi dresses & hair styles
my frnds elder sis weddings is on the way & we've planned to make it kinda traditional type like wearing paranda & gajras in mehandi so i want ideas
secondly i've never attended any paki wedding so i want to see some pics to get an idea

Hmm, till now I have seen mehndi brides with one braid and heard of mehndi rasam when they make 7 braids. Here is a bride with 2 braids:

I remember PF had a nice braid with bangs to the side....that was cute.
I plan on doing something like what a bride has in Bina Khan's group- hair pulled back, a nice big teeka, braid to the side with orchids on the braid.

I love how she has a bun decorated with flowers and then hair coming our from the bottom here. i plan to do the same thing except braid the hair instead of leaving it loose! this way the dupatta will set nicely but i’ll still have a long braid. of course i doubt i’ll have hair long enough so I’ll be using a faux bun or braid. :slight_smile:
