amazing mehndi
amazing mehndi
i am in love with it
Re: amazing mehndi
It definitely looks intricate & pretty...but when it dries, its just going to look like a red-orange blur all over her arms unless you're looking at it from very close up.
I prefer simpler mehndi designs, with a lot of empty space...
Re: amazing mehndi
Ooo It's so pretty. She's very talented!
I tend to agree, janab-e-ali. I prefer Indo-Arabic style myself (but I definitely wouldn't reject having this done on me!). Gimmie lots of lace, and negative space!

agreed! thats how mine was, with lots of white space in between and a slightly larger, but no less delicate pattern. it turned out really well. yay!
Re: amazing mehndi
i don't think mine looked like one big orange blur.. but i have seen mehndi like that, and that was wtih more arab-designs than indian..
Re: amazing mehndi
these are beautiful, but u can already see orange where the white space is supposed to be. that must be from wiping and stuff, but i have seen some intricate designs like this that turned out beautiful, and not at all like an orange blob.
Re: amazing mehndi
qs though, for some intricate designs, do u first transfer the actual design on the hand first or just make the design from scratch?
Re: amazing mehndi
I’m a mehndi artist by profession, and everything I do is from scratch. I don’t see how someone could transfer designs like that, given that so many peoples arms are different sizes.
However, I have used a watercolor pencil on designs that demand symmetry (not on hands though).
In this photo I used watercolor pencil (the orange dotted line), to mark the symmetry. http://www.flickr.com/photos/20286098@N05/2460082777/
Re: amazing mehndi
matinee, that is so pretty. i was asking that because i love getting henna tattoos on my arm as a bazo-band? when i dress up in desi clothes. i wanted to be able to do it myself on my sister's arm, and even on my own arm if possible, and since i am a total beginner with henna, transferring designs would help i believe.

Here's an idea. draw some designs that you like (or print them out life size from the computer), then get transfer paper. Trace the design onto the transfer paper with a pen, then wet it and transfer it to your skin. Then, you can take a mehndi cone and trace what you've put on your skin.
I hope that helps!
Re: amazing mehndi
i think da artist did fantastic job, but personally i don’t like that much mehndi (full of hands, arms, feet & legs). if i have a chance to do da mehndi design on my hands…I will go 4 these designs.
Re: amazing mehndi
With the first three designs, there would be no need to seek a professional mehndi artist, because they are so simple. You’re pretty much looking at designs that could be accomplished with a toothpick.
Re: amazing mehndi
That’s about as much mehndi as I plan on wearing when I get married. I don’t think I could sit still for the 4+ hours required for full bridal mehndi anyways ![]()
I wish the center design was more intricate though…its just a big red dot. I like this design more:

Re: amazing mehndi
The one you posted was very pretty.
However, find yourself an experienced mehndi artist and you can get yourself done in no time!
Re: amazing mehndi
Me too I don’t like full hands either… I also like something like above for both outside and inside. I am not into applying mehndi on feet or legs. I just like keeping it to hands lolz

Hey Matinee that's an awesome idea...I am sure gonna try this as well. I have question, if i trace the design on my hand, will it affect the mehndi color? Also the dye will wash off once i wash my mehndi, right? Also you thin I will be able to find life size design on the computer easily?
Re: amazing mehndi
It doesn't but use a wasable marker to trace instead of a ballpen.

The impression from the pen is so faint, it doesn't harm the ability for the paste to stain.

It shouldn't affect the colors. The print from the pen will be so faint on your hand that it won't really affect the ability for the paste to stain.
What kind of life size design are you looking for? There are lots of free mehndi designs on the internet. When you go to print it, just fiddle with the specifications a bit until you get it as large as you want.
Re: amazing mehndi
