I agree with this gentleman that nab is not doing its job properly, but I have one question to ask whose responsibility was to ensure that it worked independently? If the organisation moves against the ruling elite they’d start crying that the establishment is after them, and if they go after the opposition there would be wails that they are being politically victimised.

Ittefaq foundry assets were kept as lien against the loan…and its interesting to note that after a period of 17 years, the loan was settled on the basis of its value 17 years ago, and not today. The amount ‘saved’ alone would be in billions. Secondly, this is not the only loan that they took out. (or maybe this is the only documented case).

seems like NAB has touched some cords. After NAB told supreme court that beside others, Shareef Brothers are also under investigation by NAB for mega corruption, Pervaiz Rasheed is threatening NAB almost everyday and not Speaker NA also threatened NAB.

Aur jis tarah Zardari ne 12 pass kiya hai, i know it very well. My in law is friend of the then principal of cadet college petaro, who has some very interesting stories to tell about the respected Zardari. Zardari had locked him up once in a room and said he would only open the door if he gets him passed in the exam as Zardari knew he probably was never going to pass the exams. Kiyani at least didn't cheat to become the COAS.

Interestingly, the NAB record lacks the details of cases against some top figures, including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Shahbaz Sharif, former president Asif Ali Zardari and former Pakistani envoy to the US Hussain Haqqani.
According to the NAB officials, dates for filing and its verification of complain against Sharif bothers are not available. The report said that direct investigation was initiated against the two brothers, after a source passed some information in this regard.
In the case against Nawaz Sharif pertaining to illegal recruitment in the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA), Maj Gen M.H. Ansari is the complainant. The complaint was filed on March 22, 1999 and direct investigation was started in the case without an enquiry.

Similarly, a case was filed against former president Asif Ali Zardari against the report of a source but NAB has no details regarding to the dates of filing complaint, enquiry and investigation in the case.
In the same manner, investigation was launched against Hussain Haqqani and Ishaq Dar on the report of a source.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja, was hearing a case filed by Manzoor Ahmed Ghauri against chairman NAB and other officials. The case, initiated earlier this year, pertains to scrutiny of the anti-corruption body.
The 45 pages report lists 50 cases each of monitory irregularities, misuse of powers and land scams. This development had also drawn criticism from several political segments which raised questions on the credibility of the entity.

Why am I not surprised that the only cases about which NAB has expressed reservations are about the partners in crime…Sharif Family and Zardari family.

I was once told that in Pakistan once you cross a certain level of corruption no law can touch you. I find it so true. That these people are elected to loot and plunder yet more from the poor people who stupidly elect them, I just can't comprehend it.

Because they have enough money to buy a general, judge, policeman, media or even a maulvi. Such people share the loot money with these guys and become most prominent and respectable citizens of Pakistan. In Pakistan every one is bikau and has some price tag.
