i think if i was in a longer labour i wold have but i just about had some gas and air …

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

I had whats called Back labor and to top it off doubling contractions…4 hours of that i was ready for the epidural. Once i got it, i was sooo relaxed!!! i just don’t understand why anybody wouldn’t get it.

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

I had morphine and gas. both didnt work. Than i had epidural and it reduced pain only. I was told as baby’s head was down, epidural sometimes doesnt work.

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

I had back labor with both my pregnancies and both times my labor lasted 17 hours. I was given pitocin both times cuz my water broke but contractions didn’t start. I took epidural half way thru labor. Alhamdullah no side affects at all. I felt that I was more in control of things second time. Baby was out in 3 pushes both times. My husband was too chicken to cut the cord so I cut it with my second one.

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

Epidurals scare me. I wish they were administered orally; I hate injections. I’ve needle-phobia, but the alternative is scary too. Heck, everything about birth scares me, I mean aaaavaryyytheeeng!!! Can’t bring myself to watch a birthing video, I’ve a weak stomach. God help me.

Alrighty, you ladies carry on. :k:

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

^if it makes u feel any better, u don’t have to see the needle while getting an epidural. You have to stay looking down while they give it in your spine.

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

^Spine sounds scary too. The day will come when epis are given in fast-acting pill format. Dare to dream.

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

I did not feel any pain in my spine, maybe because I was already overwhelmed with labor pains.

Re: medicated birth or all natural?

The anesthetist numbs the area before giving you the epidural. You won’t / don’t feel a thing!
