Media and Falloojeh

Heres my take.

Al Jazerra is an Arab news agency. They report news firstly to majority Arab audience. An audience that views the conflict in Iraq differently than the western audience.

Not to say that Arab press is bias.

Not to say that western press is bias.

Am saying that each is experiencing the events in Iraq differently.

I do think if western media and leaders avoided using the term

"collateral damage"

when refering to loss of innocent civilians that include women and children....

Perhaps the eastern media might also emphasize the effort made to avoid such loss.

The term "collateral damage" to me seems a way to avoid actually having to admit innocent people are also dying.....

A way of keeping those intimately involved in the conflict emotionally
immune from thinking that they could have killed someones child, mother, etc.

But the very blandness of term comes across as unemotional and uncaring which enhances the bad reputation of Americans in some eyes.

Well, let’s revisit this topic now that some more facts are out. Were there 600 civilian casualties in Fallujah? Here are the facts:

"Iraqi Ministry of Health said yesterday that 264 have been killed and 791 wounded in the Fallujah area since April 5, while in Baghdad another 235 have been killed and 832 wounded.

The health ministry’s nationwide data also show that 12 percent of the Iraqis killed were women or children 15 years old or younger."

Led by a stooge appointed by the US occupation regime. Great “neutral” source OG. :k:

:hehe: It sure is funny at what sources are taken as gospel and what is considered biased. Anyone who ever uses crap sources like aljazeera and the like can’t complain about sources. The ministry also reports double the casualties in Baghdad as previous figures. Is that figure biased too or just the ones that don’t fit your anti-American agenda?

Who is neutral? Saddam?

Fact - Iraqi Health minister was appointed by the US occupation regime. Do you expect a man like him to allow the real truth to be revealed about his masters. He is as believable as one of Saddam's ministers.

So any media source not in direct control of the American war machine is 'crap' hmmmm you don't say.

No, just all Arab sources (that I've seen anyway). I'm wondering if this minister's casualties figures in Baghdad (that are twice that of previous reports) is to be believed.

If this were the first time that civilian casualties had been exaggerated, then perhaps one could question the Iraqi Ministries account. However, time and time again "media" sources get a report, and when it is verified months later, buy independent NGO's on the ground, the casualties are a small fraction of the initial reports.

The "initial reports" were from a hospital director in Fallujah, where the hospital was contolled by the insurgents. Every video that came out of the hospital by Al-Jazeera was of a child, and NOT a SINGLE video of a "fighter". If that hospital director had stated the truth, how long do you believe he would have lived?

I have a lot more confidence in a review of records, PARTICULARLY one that showed the casualties in Baghdad were HIGHER than estimated, than a statement from a doctor with a gun to his head.

But it does not matter, as the exaggeration of casualties is never questioned by the arab masses, who prefer to keep the hatred boiling despite the truth. As long as this crap "resonates", and there is always some moron who wants to crate another Jenin to rally some hatred.

Remarkably, no one has the guts to blame the insurgents in Fallujah for bringing trouble to their people. A political process is available, and the people of Iraq have years to fine tune the politics and the balance of power in Iraq.

:hehe:

Just look at the American’s desperately trying to wheel out their stooges in Iraq to back up their genocidal crimes in Fallujah. Pathetic.

You people sure do throw around the term 'genocide'. You obviuosly don't know what it is. Stop minimizing the real tragedies of history. If you want to know what a real genocide really is, look at the history books. There have been a few of them over the years, just don't be too shocked when you look at the TRUTH and discover what a genocide really is and who really commited them.

Oh dear, lets not go down that road. We'll split the difference and say the US troops are massacering innocent Iraqi's and getting back what they deserve and leave it at that.

Don't minimize real tragedies of history with what is going on in Fallujah.

Seminole,

So Fallujah is a picnic then?

Tell it to their families:

Tragic. The American's massacre 700 Iraqi civilians in Falluja alone, and think they can downplay that or minimise the crime. But at least 700 US soldiers were injured or killed as well, so that is some justice.

Ferocious fighting in the Iraqi town of Falluja has grown so intense that US occupation forces have begun destroying buildings and homes.

A Zionist Nazi touch to it?

What's tragic is the exageration of death figures to justify the hatred of America. Stop watching al jazeera if you want facts.
