Me and mY gender ... why?

Why people are some much interested in the gender of the person that they are talking with? Why can’t we carry a gender-free discussion, especially when we are already accustomed to that in this day and age?

Many people talk on social network websites (like GS) without knowing other person’s gender and do carry a decent and meaningful conversation.

Then why is that some people that I meet everyday are so much interested in what gender I belong to?

Sometimes, I just get fed up with people.

Anyone remembered that song?

Chal chali ye, dunya de oos nukray
Jithay bunda, na bunday di zaat hovay

I feel like singing that song, right now.
