McDonald’s: Fleecing of customers in Pakistan

Two things
First about going to Fast food chain all dressed up. Well the thing is Pakistanis go dressed up even to Al-fatah to get groceries  McDonald’s tou phir resturant hey. So thats no big deal. Not to mention even for a walk they have to be all dressed up, which makes life difficult for a person like me :crying: but kher ammi ki daant aik kaan sey sunni doosrey sey :smokin:

2nd thing about prices well anyone remember Burger point in gulberg? Well they sell their chicken burger for RS 50, McDonald’s is tou phir an international food chain.

Waisey the best way is to get Value chicken patties and Dawn key Bun. Fry the patty, put mayo on the bun after heating it uskey uppur patties uskey uppur mustard sause aur yum yum. It costs around RS 20 :snooty:

There are more than 3 Mcdonalds in Faisalabad, and last time I went there, they were packed, I couldnt believe my eyes!!! They were doing good business!!! If the people are willing to pay Rs.100, let it be.

an educated person like u who claims to be tolerant and open minded shud know better than to use racist term such as paki on a pakistani forum. :-/

n i'd even pay Rs. 200 for a burger in pakistan. its halal, thats what matters to me

[/QUOTE]

Suroor ji - I dont consider PAKI as a racist slur nor did I mean it that way, but if you or anyone else is offended I apologize.

There is no need for this thread If people are ready to pay 200 rs for the burger

Its nothing new to pkais , they are used to get fleeced my multinational companies.

e.g. Toyota , Honda and specially SUZUKI is doing it for last 10 years.

and out Leaders doing it for last 55 years in the name of taxes.

The only appeal of McDonalds to me in Pakistan is getting a chance to eat the burgers we see on tv here in Canada, since they are halal in Pakistan..
But I found that Pakistani resteraunts were a hell of a lot better. Give me Chicken Tikka, Seikh Kabab, Chuppli Kabab,,,,,, any day

I think there is no burger for Rs 100 At Mcdonald. The nearest meal is Rs119 and the cheapest is about Rs 45(chicken burger). May be some deal is on for Rs 99(burger +coke+fries).

And i think no 10 rupee burger in india (15 rupee main subzi wala milta hoga :nahnah: ) the whole comparison of 10 to 100 is a bit exaggerated

Btw i only like strawbery shake at Mcdonald :yummy:

I tend to agree with Faisal. It’s mostly a purchasing power parity issue with a side kick of demand-supply situation.

As far as dressing up is concerned…we Pakistanis like to get dressed up…even for qul etc..don’t we know that? It’s not bad btw, if you ask me. Also the fact that people view eating out as an entertainment mode in itself here adds fuels to the entire dressing up thingy.

irem: The exchange rate between our and their rupee is not that much btw…in case you are wondering. 1 PKR=0.8 INR

Yes…we pakistanis still flock to the likes of McDon’s and KFCs and the likes. I guess there is some merit to the argument that we pay a certain premium for relishing the mere presence of these global franchises here in Pakistan.

We like to eat out :dhimpak: Oh yeah.

this report is so hilarious!!! Rs 10 Mcdies burger in India???
i dont know why they dont verify their facts before posting such crap..

check this site out and can somebody please tell me whether I can get mcburger in 10 bucks???

oi man when ever i go pak i get those burgers from 'rari wala' man they r so tasty ... and those cost more than mcd's in india ... so even the gareeb in pak r richer than the indian counterparts :o

It's surprising that no one has thought of the obvious reason why Mcdonalds was forced to make it's items cheaper in India - there is too much competition.

When KFC came to India and found itself losing heavily it soon realised that Indians had too many choices and after satisfying their initial curiousity went back to their tikkas, idlis, local pizzas and burgers (some of them beat the pants off Pizza hut and Mcdonalds).

So strong is consumer preference that Mcdonalds for the first time bent to public taste and introduced things like pizza pie and tandoori wrap. Btw their tandoori wrap is the most delicious thing on the menu and I wonder if it's available in Pakistan?

So it's not because Indians are poorer and can't afford to pay more than 44 bucks, it's just that we don't need Mcdonalds and they know it, hence the only way to stay in the market and hope that one day consumers will be weaned away from local delicacies to American ones, is to slash prices drastically. Plus of course low markups can work in a country with a huge population.

Pakistan has just as many fast food outlets and choice as India, it must be that our buying power is more. There was a report a few months back , where an Indian visited Pakistan, and his conclusion was that the standard of living in Pakistan was higher than that of India, obviously population would have to with that.
