what are the vertical and horizontal asymptotes?
and x and y intercepts?

Bismillah.

f(x)= (5 x - 9)(x+7) / (-9 x - 8) (7 x - 9)

  1. y-intercept

exists when x=0 right? so sub in x=0 into the equation above.

you should get y-intercept= -7/8

  1. x-intercept

exists when y=0. Now this means that the numerator has to equal 0.

hence, (5 x - 9).(x+7)= 0
i.e. x= 9/5 OR x=-7

  1. horizontal Asmytopes exist when the denominator equal 0 (bcoz this is when the equation is infinite/ undefined)

hence;
(-9 x - 8). (7 x - 9)= 0
x= -8/9 OR x= 9/7

did this quickly, may have made calc mistakes, check to see the answer is correct :)

also, check the question again, a misplaced +/- could make a lot of difference.

i never pay attention to mathes…too much puzzeling involved…but still ma grades are gud..could be better though

btw CP; i plotted the function on excel... the x, y intercepts as well as the asymtopes "look" like they are in the right place....
