Re: Mass detentions - A sign of a weak government?
I doubt it's because Pakistani government is scared to let him stay in Pakistan. It has more to do with.. let me see.. what he has done in the past? DUH! is that so hard to understand? Why do you people accuse the government, or Musharraf in this case, for someone else's crime? Doesn't it make you angry that NS literally swallowed our country's treasure. GO TO ISLAMABAD AND SEE THE MAHAL (PALACE) HE HAD BUILT FOR HIMSELF. It makes me so sad to see my dear pakistanis supporting the wrong party although being capable of supporting the right one.
we obviously have no faith in collective wisdom of the people. what do they say..oh yeah imposing one's will on others.

.. and when you say collective wisdom, are you taking into account the ililletrate part of the nation numbering in millions -o actually half Pakistan?
May I know what "collective wisdom" could these people really offer? They hardly have enough to keep their families alive. tsk tsk tsk. Humesha se yehi to hota aaya hai Pakistan main. When someone (authority figure) can't fix something, it all boils down to the ghareeb Qoum of Pakistan that probably goes to bed hungry twice a week on average.
Great COLLECTIVE wisdom...really.
Re: Mass detentions - A sign of a weak government?
You didn't bother reading the article did you? Read the article. It openly states that Preventive detention violating basic constitutional rights, are in violation of the Constitution. And any law in violation of the constitution is illegal and thus unforcable.
The fact that the dictator openly violates the constitution is a separate matter. But when it comes to matter of law and jurisprudence, Article 8:1 stands as the supreme law of the land.
You are really saying its okay to openly defy our constitution.
The comment Miss Noland is rather well idiotic. Just because people can't read and write, we can not forget the prinicples that govern our nation. What I find equally pathetic is that Musharraf got the Saudi's involved in our internal affairs again. So much for being the "Great Leader" to save us from all the ills of the world.

I don't know whether you have seen NS farm house or not But if you want I can send you pics of Pakistani President House, PM house and CM house. They have spent billions of rupees of this poor nation on these buildings.
If he swallowed country's treasure then what Mush did? What you listen or see on TV & in Print media is just a magic of figures. Don't you know what happened with a common man in past Eight Years.
They are claiming that our economy is going up but why we can't see changes in common man's life. Everythings is same as before and by the way who are in Mush team same people who are with NS. Mush has the same ministers, same big players who were involved with NS before.

The world greatest democracy, the US, did not star out with 100% literacy rate. Nor did it ever had military coups even during the civil war.
Anyway, if you want 100% literacy rate in Pakistan before thinking about democracy, than we should forget get about democracy all to gather because Pakistan will never have democracy as long this this white elephant called army exist eating away most of our resources, and has dominating influence on every aspect of public life.

Agreed

I am counting everyone who supported NS in his right to return to Pakistan.
May I know what "collective wisdom" could these people really offer?
Votes.
They hardly have enough to keep their families alive. tsk tsk tsk.
A poor man's vote holds as much weight as a rich man's.
Humesha se yehi to hota aaya hai Pakistan main.
and if it continues like this, aiinda bhi yehi hota rahay ga. That is precisely why u should continue to support the current system of governance that puts food for everyone on the table.
When someone (authority figure) can't fix something,
If the same authority figure can't fix ANYthing..and is more part of the problem than solution, then I figure it's about time he looks at his options. otherwise, sooner or later he will either fall from the sky or say hello to Tara Maseeh.
it all boils down to the ghareeb Qoum of Pakistan that probably goes to bed hungry twice a week on average.
Great COLLECTIVE wisdom...really.
doesnt make sense but fine..happy ending for the great oracle in Presidency. Wonder how long happy time lasts for him. Sooner or later, he'll depart the most popular person to be kicked out or taken up.

Addie hope youd know the PM/Pres house are properties of the GoP and Mush or Shoky will not take them with them. Mian Saab's Raiwind estate and others are not GoP properties but heven knows what money to a large extent was used in raising them.
Re: Mass detentions - A sign of a weak government?
whats a new one? that there are problems in the constitution. Dude, you may want to get your political info from other sources than gupshupo and jihadi papers. the weaknesses in constitution and law have been discussed year over year. ammendements have been made by every regime ..changes have been made by every regime.
now if these arrests are okay by constitution then what would you say? that arrests are okay or will u agree with me that there are issues with the constitution. take your pick.
I dont have the time to educate you, so google it to sort your hot air theory :)
Please provide any tangible references. Ammendments to consitutions is a normal part of any democratic governance.
Arrests maybe OK if the constitution is applied without prejudice and not for nefarious reasons. Apart from that, your personal views are nothing but hot air it seems devoid of any tangible reasoning
Re: Mass detentions - A sign of a weak government?
words in your mouth? huh
I was responding to CM, read post #1, last sentence. not yours when I started down this discussion in this thread.
that was the basic premise of my statement that you can not say its against the constitution, it is per constitution. so you can say that there is a weakness in constitution.
so then you started defending constitution, which is fine, defend it all you want. my basic premise is that the actions were in accordance to constitution and not against it as alleged in the initial post of this thread.
alright. miscommunication. I was under the impression we were discussing the bit I highlighted in ur post on page 1.
Re: Mass detentions - A sign of a weak government?
I am still confused on how this is legal under the constitution, when Article 8:1 says these actions are a violation of the consitution?
