Re: Married ladies of GS
My cousin’s wife came from Pakistan, here to the US, and it was a huge culture shock from her. In her case, she came from a very simple family that was not real well off financially and didn’t even go around much in Karachi. Her parents did not really prepare her coming into a big khandaan like ours that had been settled in the US for the past 30 years, so bichari had a hard time adjusting initially, but she was a very determined girl and worked hard to settle down, and my Khala was instrumental I think in helping her feel at home with us crazies, lol. It’s been 12 years now and she’s doing fine.
I think it depends on the family background of where you’re coming from and where you’re going. Someone from an upper class upbringin may not have as hard of a time as someone who’s never had experiences outside their mohala.
