I do not think so. A simple gharaara that I saw with minimal embroidery was a shocking 22,000. Gharaaras and ghagras for the wedding type were shooting up to 80,000 rupees.
I think the only thing you're going to get in her shop for 1800 rupees is maybe an accessory decorative pin.
well i've been shopping at her park towers shop since it opened and yes you can get a simple suit for 1800. the ones that are for every day wear. her formal line starts at around 5000. its her bridal wear that costs 60,000 and up and thats available at the zamzama shop.
well her stuff is really good compared to other paki designers...basically what she does is take western designs and incorporate it into a shalwar kameez. she copies alot of her designs from american designers... last time i was in her shop she had made an exact copy of a shirt that i saw jessica simpson wearing on her show a while back.
I love Maria B. cuz she knows how to mix things up and incorporate different styles from all cultures. im studying fashion design right now in New York and I might visit this college in Lahore called Dandy School of Design and Maria B. is one of my role models for my designs. Guys you all keep an eye out for me, pakistans next big designer- Anam!!!!! lol :)
Shazi - true, but isn't that the sign of a weak designer? After all the trend of incorporating western designs into shalwaar kameez is something most of the designers are doing.
yeah i guess u can say that maria b is a weak designer. i never said she was a genius i just said she was good compared to the other designers in pakistan. the reason she is doing so good is because she doesn't go overboard with her designs. she copies a lot of her stuff but she makes it so that most pakistani women can wear it. as for other designers they make outfits that most pakistani women would never be able to wear out. and i agree that the majority of our designers copy stuff, which is really sad.

I had heard about this collection of hers, but this is the first time I'm seeing it - very vibrant and wild!
