I manage sales for new home builders, I was involved in a net zero housing project where the home produced all the energy it consumed. There were govt grants for solar panels and there were two way meters where you could sell excess energy back to the grid. The homes were super insulated and also relied on sunlight heating the home in winter etc. So really the technology is here so we don’t need to spend on home energy. I was sent to the international conference and was involved with researchers etc. You could monitor the home energy production remotely and was available for public to view.
