I just went to a weddnig where the bride was wearing MM and I wasn't...impressed. From far it looked cute, I guess but close up...OMG. The kaam looked "cheap" like he had gone to a craft shop and tacked it on. Maybe it's the indian style of larger stones and stuff. I didn't like it at all. The style was very much like a ball gown as opposed to a lehnga too. I just thought the whole thing looked tacky. The bride is GORGEOUS mA so it didn't matter but still
My friend owns a Manish Malhotra evening formal. It's blue and green...very typical MM colors from the Karishma-Kareena era. But it's gorgeous in touch and feel. It's actually a couple of years old or so and it still looks fresh and pretty. I think it depends on how much $$ you are willing to spend.
Not really he and other indian designers have been making these kinda clothing a yr before the pakistani designers picked up on the trends. remember the karishma and kareena outfits he made when they were on nach baliye? soon after all paki designers were adding ribbons to the bottom of outfits and what not. He started paneling with fabrics vertically and using splashes of colors that don't look like they necessarily go with the outfit. like how maria b. had that one blue and green dress with the red dupatta, the whole color clash thing was started by indian designers. I think you justhave to keep an eye on both runways to see the trends and what not.
agree 100% my mil sent me something very similar in 2002, as eid gift. In india yes there are current trends etc, but everything goes, more like what is going in paksitan right now. problem with paksitani fashion scene is that everybody just gets on the same bandwagon at the same time, anything other than latest trend looksodd at that time, not the same in india. When I wear our pakistani style kapre here, I am a bit different but blend right in because there are so many other styles around.
