engagement dress r usually brought by da in-laws soooo it depends on dere taste...
some ppl go or really plain shalwar kameez, other go for embrodiered lehengay gharary looking like valima brides :D
it alsooooo depends on how acomodating ur in-laws r... n even on da type of ceremony r having... like if its a huge gathering u mite wanna dress up... even though u could even pull off a very nice soft look at the big gathering tooo....

and rust gold n parrot green ka combnation sounds different yet nice!!! u could go wid a very delicate antique look wala set.... n go for a very soft makeup... peachy lipstick n a rusty or smoky eye makeup... and da main thi8ng is da hair... do not get a bun or swiss roll made n no back combing!! it totally killsda soft look... just get ut hairblow dried n leave them open... or just put a small hair grip at da back.. leave the hair totally simple.... doesnt matter if u pin up da dupata or leave it at the side.... simple hair will go both ways!!!
