I think it depends on personal style as well as how big the occasion is. You cant exactly dress up REALLY fancy if it's a small gathering. And if it's a huge mangni gathering, I personally would prefer lehnga or something. Not like some heavy type but one with light decent kaam and hair and makeup similarly elegant.
