**If her spirit (which is more important than the body, as he’s implying)…is still with you…then let the body pass on.
But I can understand that people react differently to death. And as much as we try to tell ourselves that it’s the “soul” that matters more…we know we can’t perceive the soul…it’s the body of the person that we saw on a regular basis and got used to. And it can be tough isolate that from something imperceptible like the soul. Not trying to justify the act though.

Local authorities are said to be planning an inspection of the case because of **new **sanitation laws that rule a body must be cremated or buried, and that burials cannot be carried out in residential gardens without approval.

GOOD GOD…such sanitation laws should not be a “new” thing. They should have been in place long ago. I wonder how he can bear the stench of the decomposition or if he’s done anything to prevent/remedy that.

Overall, I think it’s sad…and morbid…and it reminds you of your own mortality and those of your loved ones…and how challenging accepting death and moving on can be.
