Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Sikh

MESA, Ariz. - A man was sentenced to death Thursday for killing an Indian immigrant during a shooting rampage four days after the Sept. 11 attacks.

Frank Silva Roque was convicted of murder last week in the death of gas station owner Balbir Singh Sodhi.

Prosecutors said Roque targeted Sodhi because he thought he was an Arab. Sodhi wore a turban and beard as part of his Sikh faith.

After Sodhi’s shooting, Roque shot at another gas station where the clerk was a man of Lebanese descent, and shot at the home of an Afghan family, authorities said. They were not injured.

Defense attorneys argued that Roque suffered from a mental illness and that the terrorist attacks triggered an episode of insanity.

Finally its about time.

WARNING - No racist taunts will be tolerated.

Justice is served.

Justice well done.
Long live America.
Killers of thousands of Sikh in Nov 1984 are still roaming the corridors of Indian Parliament. What a shame!!!!

What really strike me is just how truly ignorant someone has to be not to be able to distinguish between a Sikh and an Arab.

Anyhows, good riddance of this guy.... justice is served.

Re: Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Sikh

good to see that justice is served, although i strongly feel the murderers be used for medical experimentation and not given the easy way out.

anyone know if this was prosecuted in federal court as a hate crime?

Re: Man Sentenced to Death for Killing Sikh

That defense team is almost trying to justify targeted hate killings through the excuse of insanity.

Where was he when the Oklahoma bombing took place?

How comes no mental health trigger was set off then.

Or was he too sane to become insane and claim diminished responsibility?

The excuses become better by the day.
