Samb answered this question for me. Younus had all the qualities to be a great captain but greatly lacked the emotional maturity. This is Pakistan we are dealing with and he should have known that he will run into problems while he is captain but this is where your mental toughness comes in and unfortunetly, Younus proved to be quitter. But its important to note that he didnt come out and blame ONE person for everything, he simply said he has lost control of the team. Also keep in mind when Younus quit as captain he was doing horrible with the bat himself so that could have easily been a factor too.
Malik was not let go because of his defensive approach so get your facts right. Malik was NEVER as defensive as Yousuf…NEVER. Show me one match where he has been that defensive. Malik simply couldnt gel the team together…and when he failed and didnt too well, mind you he didnt do nearly as bad as Yousuf, the managment reported its findings to the PCB and that report said that that Malik was a loner and aloof and had no authority as captain in the team. You can go back and verify that.
The team does not want Malik as its captain and neither is the team under performing to get rid of Yousuf. The team simply wants a good captain who can motivate the players on and off the field. Malik`s failure as captain cannot be all blamed on Malik. PCB had given way too much power to Inzi when he was captain and after the WC debacle and losing to Ireland, the PCB over corrected and gave Malik almost no authority. The selection committe used to decide the playing eleven for home matches.
If you want to look at the facts, then its important for you to know that Malik won his first ODI series as captain 2-1 against Sri lanka where as Yousuf lost 1-2 to NZ. Now, NZ is a team who we have ALWAYS had the upper hand against and Yousuf couldnt have asked for an easier opponent for a first full series as captain of Pakistan.
Yousuf is the one who started talking crap about Malik after Malik rightly didnt want Yousuf for the T20 team and betrayed the country after SEVERAL warnings from Nasim Ashraf and joined the ICL…and now after the NZ and Aussie debacle, he knows his career is pretty much done so he is once again coming up with complete BS to justify his retarded and worse than a 5 year old kid captaincy skills.
