Making fun of people's English

Re: Making fun of people's English

Nikki, I try to go along with people as much as possible. Making fun of them isnt really an option , its just a low thing to do.

Infact I think we should realize that the world is becoming a global village and each individual gets highly influenced by different cultures and environment. That ultimately reflects on the way we speak , dress, carry ourselves ...

Therefore , there is no point in making fun of someone , like TLK said , they might be better at another thing that we cant beat ...

Re: Making fun of people's English

That's pretty normal if u are to settle somewhere else.

Re: Making fun of people's English

I dont make fun of people's english......and to be honest i hardly ever come across such people....but i have seen many people here in London (specially youngsters) making fun of other's english......most of these poor people who cant speak proper English get labelled as "freshies".....how sad :(

I was born in Pakistan ,right. So what,i donot give a damn .Initially i was very shy but if i won't make mistakes how will i learn.Right

I donot make fun ,because i know its just a popular language its better if you know it.Our people are crazy

Re: Making fun of people's English

not just in london , across west , when "they" see an asian or indian come to the UK or the US or where ever , they label them freshies and FOB's and grant them with sarcastic comments ... ignoring the fact that , they arent really The chosen ones that they were born in that country , the fact is those people who have come from else where are much more brave, daring and self made and perhaps come from difficult circumstances , dealing with new challenges on their own.

Its always easy to sit in an easy chair and point fingers and always tough to be on the other side of the fence.

Re: Making fun of people's English

Yeah CB you are quite right, in my areas they are so many Asians here....it's literally full of asians. And many of these people such as Uncles & aunties cant speak proper English...and i have seen so many people making fun of them. Even worst other day i saw a woman in her mids 35 (she was an asian) making fun of this guy english ( he was also Asian but quite old i guess in his 50s)...How about she show some respect? To be honest i dont expect 35 yr olds making such comments. How sad & pathetic :(

Re: Making fun of people's English

Eye of newt and toe of frog, wool of bat and tongue of dog .....

Man , Inglish is such a phunny language

Re: Making fun of people’s English

I commend those who pick up English as a secondary/tertiary language, as it’s known as the most complex language to learn, hence i have nothing but respect for these people :).

However, i do mirror the “side-to-side head bobbing” when i’m talking to an Indian friend who is speaking English :cb:.

i bet u make fun of peoples english all the tym:snooty:

Re: Making fun of people's English

I make fun of my Dad's strangely posh English with a Desi accent but he laughs along with me and he makes fun of my poor attempts at Bengali and Urdu. My Mum doesn't have an accent so I can't really wind her up :(

I'd never make fun of a stranger's English accent tho, I get random ppl laughing at my accent all the time when I'm 'back home' so I know how it feels..

Re: Making fun of people's English

I dont make fun of peoples' English...poor grammar annoys me but I dont correct anyone except those closest to me. I care and dont want anyone else to correct them.
