Making a wedding simple ...

Re: Making a wedding simple ...

i wish you the best of luck in cutting costs!

well im not too sure if there is a such thing in Pak (i think your in pak right?) but here in Ireland some hotels are offering recession busting wedding packages, the only catch it you have to have 100+ guests which is not problem for an asian wedding,

there is one particular hotel who is offering your whole wedding, hall, food, drinks reception one nights suit linens, table arrangements etc etc for €5000 and if you want to upgrade its €8000 and plus they have this points scheme with their gold card you can cash for 3-4 even 5 nights in a partner hotel in various countries for your honeymoon so all you have to do is pay for your flights!!

apart from that i suppose centrepieces are somthing you can cut costs on, like go for a cheaper flower which is in season and lots of candles is all your really need.

i think "bridal" make up is over-rated, you can get party make up done and still look stunning for your photographs so maybe look into someone that does heavy party make up

another thing i was thinking to do was have a ladies only mehndi (with the exception of males in my family which isnt that many and a few friends) you can have a great night with the girlies and plus i dont think men enjoy these kind of events anyway....or alternatively have a joint mehndi so its not really his or yours its both?

oh and for favours and silly things like that im going to Ikea and the 99cent store!!!! as long as no-one knows where it came from it doesnt matter if its designer or DIY :)

Re: Making a wedding simple ...

The biggest tip i tell everyone is just put money where it matters. The MC, DJ, and lighting changes the whole mood of the room. You would be surprised how much you can save if you shop around. Instead of giving party favors, we made a fancy board saying we are going to donate to Feed the Children instead of party favors. Of course, be sure to make a donation. There are going to be about 800 pictures of you that day so I would definitely be satisfied with the outfit you choose. Those willow branches make a great centerpiece and decorators tend to bargain more with those since they reuse them over and over again (unlike floral arrangements). No one seems to remember wedding cards. Hope this helps....remember to stay focused. Good luck with Everything!

Re: Making a wedding simple ...

I like the idea of branches, spray painting them, putting stuff on them but ... where do i get all this in lahore, ideas?

Re: Making a wedding simple ...

Use the ones in your back garden!! If you have a tree ut the branches! I have three in my back garden, very tempted to do it for my wedding! only problem is transporting them! ahhh

Re: Making a wedding simple ...

I rally think you should spalss out - Inshallah, it should be an occasion that you can always remember. Regarding travels etc.....maybe you can cut down on that and go backpacking!!! :) -
