Re: Make-up deals

Ulta.com - They usually have the $3.50 coupon off $10 or more purchase almost weekly. If you sign up for the rewards program, you get points and then you can use them to get free stuff. I’ve signed up - I get coupons online and by mail- it’s usually either $3.50 off $10 purchase or 20% off. There are some restrictions though - like I can’t use it on fragrances or bare escentuals!! *and they only ship within the U.S.

ohh here’s this week’s coupon: http://search.ulta.com/nav/marketing/couponwk1967511s/0

Re: Make-up deals

Awesome thread! One sale that is going on in the US and Canada is at bath & Body Works, people wait outside stores for this Semi-annual Sale (SAS as it is called). And I had no idea MAC offered discounts, they are notorious for never having sales!

And I have been shopping and getting so much makeup lately that it is hard to keep track of but some of the gifts I have gotten (just like that or early birthday presents) just made my makeup collection AH-mazing! I recently got:

  • 2 bottles of my favorite perfume Goddess by Baby Phat, dont be fooled by the name, it is the most gorgeous and sexy and heavenly floral scent I have ever smelt, it is the kind that drives my fiance crazy and the best way to describe it is “dulhan-y”, I am so wearing this on my wedding! Sadly, it’s being discontinued or something so I was needing to stock up.
  • Four (4!) NARS blushes (they are $27 a pop o.o) in Orgasm (duh!), Exhibit A, Lovejoy & Desire, all birthday presents from my fiance after he found out they were on my “To Get” list.
  • I had wanted a few things from MACS “Mickey Contractor” collection because of the desi names of the colors and because they were suited for South Asian skin/undertones so I got 5 things: a highlighter/blush in Gana, 2 lipsticks in Mehr & Gulabi and 2 fluidline eyeliners in Ivy and my favorite Siahi (yup, it’s is an inky blue), again a birthday present from my fiance.

YAY for awesome thoughtful gifts from your future man!

Oh and one place i really recommend for getting good makeup is Amazon, eBay, Hautelook (awesome site, they get NYX, Urban Decay all the time) and of course Beauty.com, they have free shipping and usually accept codes for 20%-30% off so you get free shipping and a good deal. And of course check out bathandbodyworks.com, i usually dont get makeup from there, just the scented candles which I am obsessed with or the body mists and lotions, shower gels etc. And now they have a lot of the lotions/body sprays/creams/etc at $3 as opposed to the $10-$13, good for weddings or gifts.

Re: Make-up deals

Re: Make-up deals

^ I just placed my first ever order from ELF yesterday...am waiting to see what the quality is like..

Re: Make-up deals

As soon as I get my stuff I will definately report back to you guys!!!!

Re: Make-up deals

oh elf are doing a brush deal right now. type in the code BAMBOOM10 and get 50% off bamboo brushes!

Re: Make-up deals

what did you order??

Re: Make-up deals

I didn't order too much, it was when the 20% off everything offer was on..I've read so much about the Studio Powder brush and how it is amazing for buffing in liquid foundations, so this was the main reason for me placing the order then I saw that I had to spend atleast £10 for the discount so I thought I may aswell add a few more things lol. I also ordered the eyeshadow blending brush, the blush in candid coral and the waterproof eyeliner pen in Ash (I wanted black but it was sold out :()...

Re: Make-up deals

Just scored a Smashbox cream blush in coral and a coral lipgloss (also by Smashbox) for $21, which is still not that inexpensive but cheaper than the $52 it would have costed me if I got them separately. I got them from Hautelook which has a sale every single day starting at 8PM. A few days ago I scored 8 single eyeshadows and 4 glosses by Urban Decay (!) for less than $25. You have to be quick but it is so worth registering for, aside from makeup, they have clothes, shoes and household items and even vacations. And for those curious, the Smashbox sale is still on, there a few palettes left. Check it out!

Re: Make-up deals

Do Hautelook shop to UK^

Also i've ordered a few things from elf. Didnt like them one bit! Very rubbish quality - the items i ordered was a eyebrow fill in thingy, eye pencil. They had no pigments whatsoever! Very annoyed even tho i spent so litttle. The best thing to do is just order one item of something and see whether you like it and then order further stuff! I was like ooh cheap and ordered a fair few things and then was annoyed when they were rubbish!

Re: Make-up deals

Coastal scents is having a 33% off sale.. plus a makeup case if you spend over $20.. it's on until 20th June

Re: Make-up deals

Same. I ordered some stuff maybe 2 years back? When everyone was raving about them. I bought some brushes (roll and individual) and some other random stuff. Such rubbish quality. I just don't understand how people find them any good.

I decided to stick to medium to high end from then. At least I never regret any of my purchases, even if I spend quite a bit.

Re: Make-up deals

I got the elf stuff!

Mixed reviews on the stuff i got, some things are great some things i just would not recommend at all!

Will do a proper thread with pictures and swatches when I have more time!

Re: Make-up deals

I received my ELF things a few days ago. The blusher is okay (doesn't show up very well on me), the waterproof eyeliner pen is not too impressive (and is definitely not waterproof!)and the eyeshadow blending brush (normal range) is kind of on the rough side. The only thing that I like is the studio powder brush - it is extremely soft and just a great brush!

Overall I have to say I am NOT impressed and it is unlikely that I will be repurchasing anything from ELF again, except for maybe a few more studio line brushes.
