Army men of Pakistan are first and formost pakistanis as such they have a claim in the affairs of Pakistan. If they can risk there lives to protet our homeland they certainly should be shown some respect. Javed Hashmi although I belive the treason charge seems quiet harsh, did atleast try to weaken the morale of the forces and present a negative image of the forces at large to the population. An armies strenght lies in its morale and discipline, if these two are missing then we can see the example of the Iraqi army. The politcians should know there are certain limits they must at all cost not cross. Unfortunately Hashmi, NS, BS have all crossed those limits. They are continually tarnishing the image of Pakistan and trying to weaken its institutions. In a preceding argument Asif_k "Be careful of what you wish for. Today it is Mr. Hashmi, Tomorrow it could be someone close to you. " Most of crimes of rapes and dacoity and kidnappings occur in Pakistan because local powerful leaders usually have crooks under there protection. THe only difference is now one of these crooks have been picked I hope they give him the Punjab police hospitality perhaps he will understand his limits then.

Very unfortunate, especially if he has been charged with treason, this considering the illegality of this Army led govt, it's a case of the pot calling the kettle black.
some perceptions have to be corrected on the slaary issue, the average salary of an MNA is 5,000 rs/month. The increase was suggessted by the present Mush/Jamali go0vernment MNA's and was supported by Shaukat Aziz.
In the end, all of this is the consequence of the Army getting involved in politics. Faujis should be defending the borders and not running cleaning canals or checking electricity meters, once they get involved in politics they are fair game for criticism.

Crooks like Shujaat go free handpicked by Musharraf, whereas this guy is detained. This is plain idiocy... What he said made sense, whenever a new Government arrives, they start a campaign against the previous ones, I bet my last Klingon coin on the fact that as soon as Musharraf leaves, the successor will leave no stone unturned to humiliate him. Everyones done it, be it Ayub, Bhutto or Nawaz.
^ Nicely said, Spock, victimisation only creates more victimisation...
Decent 6Chora excellent stuff. :k:
You have answered my question in one post, which hypocrites who preach democracy cannot face, becuase it truly exposes the hypocrisy of the people and traitors they are trying to defend. According to out “combined” opposition of today the events of Oct 12 1999 were great patriotic act, which the whole nation supported. No talk of “illegal” actions and “defending the constitution” then? :hehe:
I’m not a fan of Qazi, but he really summarised Hashmi’s arrest nicely..
Criticising the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy President’s arrest, Mr Qazi said, “The treason case against Javed Hashmi is a joke, it is the general who deserves that.”
“Because of the general’s policies, American interference in Pakistan’s internal affairs has posed a challenge to the country’s integrity and freedom,” Mr Qazi said. He said that Pakistan’s institutions were undergoing their worst phase; judiciary freedom had been curtailed, law and order was getting worse, people were suffering because of inflation, democratic rulers were not free to play their role and the parliament was powerless. “Who is responsible for these circumstances?” Mr Qazi questioned.

Its idiocy versus idiocy. First Hashmi thought he could wreck havoc while presenting the letter (about which opposition leaders are calling for an investigation as who wrote it, ). If they doubted the authenticity of the letter, why in the world they decided to go ahead with it in the press? Govt, on the other hand, went over the line and charged him for treason though i agree that Hashmi tried to inflict damage to Armed Forces
Hashmi and opposition leaders have done nothing but whine, whine and whine. Let this looli-langri democracy give a chance, what better they can present? PML(N)?? PPP??? ohh gimme a break.
well if one talks about it the same arguments keep on coming up over and over again…
can anyone ask Qazi sahib what should Gen Mush have done in the situations that rose after 9/11!? should he have opposed the US and taken Alqaeda’s part? in that case pakistan and afghanistan would have looked like identical twins today…is it very hard to imagine what the US would have done to our coutry…? i guess it is hard for itellectuals like qazi and his fellow fans of democracy.
