Re: Major victory for Pakistan - 600 Balochi militants surrender
Three Bugti men surrender to government
QUETTA: Three more commanders of tribal chief Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti on Sunday surrendered to the government, vowing to cooperate with Islamabad until the Nawab’s ouster from Dera Bugti and the establishment of government writ in the area, government sources said. They said that the commanders - Sherbaz Khan Bugti, Sher Ali Bugti and Qalandar Khan Bugti –had surrendered along with seven tribesmen, handing over at least nine Klashnikovs, two rocket launchers and seven hand grenades. One government source quoted the commanders as saying that Akbar Bugti had failed to reward their loyalty and was simply pursuing his own interests. Government sources said the ongoing surrendering of loyalists showed that the tribal chief had become completely isolated. Sources in Bugti’s Jamori Watan Party (JWP), however, insisted that no commander had disserted the Nawab. “Those identified as having surrendered were never actually part of the Nawab’s team,” said one JWP leader, adding that the tribesmen would not abandon their struggle until Islamabad halted its military operation in the area. staff report
