it's in the first person narrative, about a woman in rural china, around the 1850's, and the lives they lead under the confuscious thinking. but most important of all, it tells the story about nu shu, or the secret writing of women. basically, it's writing made by women, for the usage of women. men have their own , common chinese writing, while women, driven to feel some kind of connection to their home villages, utilize this secret language. it's really interesting. like it talks about foot binding, and festivals and such.

the deptford trilogy..i read it for junior english..it was way way good.
