.........that little cute and shy girl in Sohail Rana's **KALIYON KI MALA and SUNG SUNG CHALTAY REHNA* musicals of PTV-K (1970-75)....NAZIA HASAN with her co-singers; Fatima Jaffery and Afshan Ahmed in that ever popular children's program....were the darlings of PTV-K.....specially to their Raju Uncle who use to get them chocolates and have fun and laughter by joining their ranks--during his recordings at studios next door.*

NAZIA BASIR HASAN* shot to International fame....when Feroze Khan spotted her for the ver popular song picturized on Zeenat Aman for his mega-hit Qurbani in 1980. Nazia then, shuttled between London and Pakistan due to her Dad Basir Hasan's business as her Mom Manizeh Basir mostly stayed in Pakistan to look after B&H Intl.*

I can never forget that sunny day of London in July-1979 when I bumped into Nazia with my three year old daughter & wife--at the Queensway area near Bayswater tube station. She almost shrieked with excitement---took my daughter in her lap and had herself photographed with her. It was almost after 15 years that i met her.

Later--during her **UAE CONCERT* with her bro Zohaib at Abudhabi's Intercontinental hotel... in 1988 per memory......she spotted me amongst the audience...ran down towards our enclosure and met me affectionately. Later, the next day she visited my place with Zohaib and Manizeh...then my office at Corniche.*

Thereafter---we kept a close touch via phones till email arrived in our lives...and then it was till her **last breath in that hospital in London that I regularly emailed her mom selected jokes and every bit of good words, articles etc to read their printouts to my Nazia and she sent replies through her mom...stating that PTV-K days are dancing in front of her eyes--with chocolates turning into EMAILS!**
HADIQA KIYANI almost fainted crying--when Ayesha Sana broke the news of NAZIA's sad demise on that 13th August-2001 night we all; Jawwad, Faakhir, Alamgir, Huma Khawaja...and others were at PTV-Islamabad's Peshawar Chowk Ground.. anchoring a live show for 14th August celebrations. The jubiliant atmosphere turned DARK and absolutely dull & dry.....everybody was crying & sobbing!
NAZIA HASAN... was a girl of immense qualities---but above all....she was that great gallant lady who braved the cancer everybody fears....and died with smile on her face---possibly thanking the ALMIGHTY for giving her such a good name and repute in the World.
NAZIA....ALLAH ALMIGHTY aapko karwat karwat jannat naseeb karay (A'meen...Summa A'meen)
