What do you mean by curvier?? When you are over-weight you are not curvier.
The era of Kate Moss is long over. Todays models are extremely fit ladies. These days fashion designers don't really need anorexic models. Yes some of them may be naturally thin at that age because the modelling profession starts at an early age these days.
Can you name a single supermodel these days who has a Kate Moss anorexic look?
oh come on! i agree airbrushing on photoshoots removes the need to have stick thin models but on the ramp u will still see models with literally bones sticking out.
if u don't have self control or are too impressionable to make supermodels your heroines.. then don't blame them.. blame yourself.
This stuff is getting out of hand.. Who is the government to regulate what the designers want? It's a free world.. and weren't the Taleban or Iran/Saudi etc are charged with the same crime? Morality enforced by the Government?
WitchDr, I wouldn’t think you’d be up to date on current runway models. But yes, there are models who are even more skeletal than Kate Moss was. I can name several of them.
Anna Mikhaylik
Petra Nemcova (admitted to abusing laxatives to stay thin)
Snejana
Vlada Roslyakova
Nicole Richie (celebrity)
Lindsay Lohan (celebrity)
By curvier I don’t mean over-weight, I mean closer to normal, with some fleshy softness, rather than angular, bony body.
Just coz they’re banning stick thin anorexic models, doenst mean they’re putting overweight women on the runway.. There IS a middle ground, of being normal w/o being over or underweight :
^ I totally agree...just look at pics of nicole, she looks so much better normal then now when she looks like shes about to drop dead any min. Boney women are ugly, the sooner they realize it, the better.
And yeah this ban doesnt mean plus size models are gonna be on the runway!
PakistaniAbroad I see if you feel the same way when your teenage(actually these days its 7 yr olds) daughter has self-esteem issues and has eating disorders and all this pressure to be thin that she turns out all messed up in the head.
Apparently, some of us are incapable of viewing things without our prejudice against ugly hangers coming into play. It’s becoming more and more a case of ‘fat fighting back’.
We’re not discussing who’s beautiful and who’s not beautiful. We’re not discussing whether big beautiful women should be models or not. We’re discussing a ban that says that models with BMI < 18 can not continue to do their work because authorities consider them sick and a bad influence. Therefore, I expect the supporters of this ban to prove the following points to prove their argument against ugly hangers.
1- All the models with BMI < 18 are sick.
2- The sick models have no right to work in this industry.
3- The influence of ugly hangers is so bad that it warrants the direct intervention of authorities.
Madrid's regional government, which sponsors the show and imposed restrictions, said it did not blame designers and models for anorexia. It said the fashion industry had a responsibility to portray healthy body images.
"Fashion is a mirror and many teenagers imitate what they see on the catwalk," said regional official Concha Guerra.
It's not up to us to prove anything for you Amorphous. The Madrid Government has their own reason.

Nicole Richie is not a runway model; neither is Lindsay Lohan. They are actresses and neither of them is any way close to Kate Moss.
Vlada is only 19 and that tall. So her being thin is natural.
Heidi Klum, Claudia Chiffer, Yamila Diaz, Tyra Banks, Adriana Lima and many others are not bone thin models. The point is that even if you are not bone thin, you have high chances of being successful in the modelling career. So it would be wrong to blame it on the career.
I presume it is a good move, in sports young boys look up to the athlete just like young girls look at models and if those athletes’ abuse drugs and steroids, it sends a very bad message to kids that you can be successful by cheating.
Nicole Richie and Lindsay Lohan are not runway models, as I stated before, they're celebrities. So they probably have more influence on teenage girls fashion wise. They're both rumoured to have eating disorders and drug problems. Mary Kate Olsen as well actually. But back to runway models. When WitchDr said that models don't have to be bone thin to be successful, he's right. So the Madrid ban is a good thing. Models can eat and be healthy and still have good careers.
