Unfortunately I barely remember those early years, in which I’m assuming I only spoke in Urdu…I recall going to montessori and singing on stage in front of a large crowd, and bursting into tears at the end of the performance and running to my daddy who was sitting in front.

I attended kindergarten again in Africa … so thats probably where I learnt English.

Lajjo, Im talking about real Urdu … you wouldnt say that to an elderly aunty now would you.

haha yea see before I went to school, I used to talk in Urdu all the time at home. Actually, I used to try to talk with my Kindergarten teacher in Urdu because I thought everyone knew it.

Cat - 4 years is good enough.Just as long as you had an accent when you moved. See, I was BORN with a desi accent because I learned English from my parents who both have huge accents. Unfortunately, I lost my accent over time, as well as many other beautiful gifts that come with being a FOB.

I was taught English at the age of 5, BEAT THAT!
