Lyari operation in Karachi

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

I think most people here are looking at this issue, as usual, from narrow Pakistani nationalistic point of view. But I tend to look at this from another point of view, which is the better point of view.
We are, well most of us anyway, are quite laaiq faaiq taleem yafta people. So our attitude and thinking should reflect that.

This is how I see this issue:
- We need peace in the city so that everyone can live and prosper,
- Any person, regardless of his background and party, who destroys the peace, gets involved in target killings, commits extortion and kidnappings, etc.; should be caught and punished.

  • Everyone agrees that Lyari is a hub of criminals involved in above activities. Thus action initiated to catch them, so as to bring peace in city, should be appreciated and lauded. The idea should be to catch criminals. Not to punish the whole community.
  • Similar action should be taken against any other criminal involved in such activities living anywhere else. If it is MQM's target killers then they should get the same treatment as a Lyari's Baloch target killer.

If we look at things this way then our mind will be clear, and we will working for the good of the whole city.
Otherwise we will continue to fight on streets and forums, wasting time, spending energy ... and continue to live in shambles.

Our choice!

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

But this PPP is not the real PPP that sachaydino supports. It reminds me of the alternate universes in Fringe! :hehe:

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

a great piece, he has raised really good questions that every citizen wants to know, is there a flip side to this story? I'm sure the reality behind this drama is kept hidden from us.

and he is right, why were stakeholders of karachi quiet all these days?

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

I always said that this un-holy alliance should be called off, even if government has to sit in opposition. You did not comment on my post regarding support to these hell bound criminals by population of Karachi. It is like people believing Iblis as their god.

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

^ There are criminals among MQM, like other parties. But to call MQM alone the "Iblees" while supporting terrorists from other parties, and while supporting the PPP-dakait government is also a biased view.

If you are calling MQM Iblees then just saying that PPP call off this alliance is not enough. You can not trust a government if it works with people you consider as hateful as Iblees.
If you really hate MQM this much then you should give up your support of PPP who works with MQM.

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

Who are the stakeholders?
If it means MQM then why should MQM be making noise?

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

her post is related to the article that i posted above the stake holders are the cm and governor who were both missing from action, and the interior minister left the job half way through the operation.

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

I think the main stakeholder for a task like this involving police is interior minister who controls the police.
And it is true that he was nowhere to be seen.

Sindh has had some weird interior ministers. Before him it was Mirza who actually distributed weapons in Lyari.

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

48 hr deadline is over now ....what now?

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

true!

this is what RM said … can we just send this guy to some other planet:mad: he just loves to talk and gives statement that make no sense at all!

KARACHI: It was a tactical retreat. The police repositioned itself 500 metres back. And in future, the work to purge Lyari of criminals would be a targeted one conducted by the police, Rangers, Frontier Constabulary and other law enforcers, said Federal Interior Minister Rahman Malik here on Sunday afternoon.

He asked the media not call the police action an “operation”. This is a misnomer, it was not an operation at any given time and the police have not failed in Lyari. “I say that it was a tactical repositioning,” he said. “A handful of criminals cannot hold the entire populace of Lyari hostage.” And in the next few days the results of the targeted work would make Lyari a bastion of peace again.
“I will also go to Lyari as it is my area,” Malik said, announcing that the public would be compensated for the losses.

Re: Lyari operation in Karachi

hye Karachi ki qismat. If following news is true then Karachi is in for another round of violence emanating from Lyari… this time involving Balochistan Liberation Army.
Since Karachi has people from all over the country, therefore it is effected by anything happening anywhere in the country. Be it sectarian outfits from South Punjab, or Taliban from KP, or (now) Baloch nationalists from Balochistan, or Karachi’s own parties fighting each other out like MQM or Haqiqi.

Hye re Karachi teri qismat.

Sindh Police arrests three BLA members in Karachi – The Express Tribune
**Sindh Police arrests three BLA members in Karachi
**KARACHI: Sindh Police arrested three alleged terrorists from Shershah, Karachi on Monday.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Chaudhry Aslam, the three identified as Ghaffar Bugti, Shams Bugti and Faisal Bugti, were members of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and had arrived from Balochistan to deliver weapons to the Peoples Amn Committee (PAC) and gangsters of Lyari.
The police raided the area after receiving a tip-off about the three hiding there.
The cache of weapons included nine rockets and 550 bullets.
SSP Aslam added that they had delivered weapons and ammunition to the PAC six times in the past.
PAC leaders have however said that the police was making false cases against them, and arresting innocent people.

This makes sense because now that Lyariites are angry with PPP, the wall chalking on Lyari is for Baloch secessionists like BLA.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Sindh police on Tuesday claimed to have recovered anti-state literature belonging to Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), from a den in Lyari during the ongoing operation.
According to sources, the CID team headed by SP Chaudhry Aslam took control of the den, which was owned by one Taj Muhammad Taju.
They claimed** the team also recovered BLA’s anti-state literatures from the den**.
