Lotta trouble. What’s new? Good to see some other news dominating editorials besides Sadam’s WMDs. Lott is USA’s version of WMD. His words are only a tiny reflection of the policies that he has advocated for the past 3 terms. You guys check out how many times he has voted against the welfare and improving social services. He is an embarrassment even if he had not said what he did.

No surprise that typically 90% of African-Americans vote Democrat.
Fraudz..good point, nothing wrong with conservatism, but everything wrong with bigotry. Knowingly that social and welfare reform is directed towards an disadvantaged segment of the society (that happens to be predominantly minority communities), one can show conservatism in cutting budget to build ship industries. Lott has always brought the bacon home on cost to the disadvantaged.
I totally agree that there are lots of bigots in both houses, and that we need conservative voices as much as we need the liberal ones.
Liberal Dems have always tried to paint Conservative GOPers with the broad brush of bigotry and racism. This happens more frequently during times that the Dems are bankrupt of any ideas that will move America forward on a positive course. And Lott's comments come at just such a time and add just enough of a hint of legitimacy that Dems will be able to make some political points in the electorate. That's too bad because the Liberal Dems have done virtually nothing of benefit for America's minorities since the 1960s except profess their love for them.
The Dems version of welfare 10 years ago represented one of the worst domestic policies possible for our nation and for the people they claimed to be so concerned about. It institutionalized poverty and despair and provided incentives for the poor to remain poor and act in ways that had a tendency to make them even poorer. The Republican and/or conservative championed welfare reform was attacked viciously as mean spirited, bigoted and racist. Today, you will find very few who would call the welfare reform that swept the nation anything other than a success. There are legions of examples of people who were once on welfare who were trained and educated, obtained gainful employment, left the welfare rolls and are today contributors to the general economic welfare of our nation. These people have both dignity and hope which they lacked under the old system.
Myvoice, it doesn’t take away the fact that Lott is a racist pig. I have to get going, we will talk again about welfare reforms. The problem was matching of the fed $ with those of the states, and the data that has been collected says completely the opposite of what you are suggesting. We will discuss the culpibility of the Republican Governors.

NYA, the real embarassment is that we keep paying unwed mothers to pop out the lowest common denominator. A friend I know who provides elecronic services to law enforcement actually heard a jailhouse conversation between a female prisoner and someone on the outside. She was explaining how she was going to have a couple of more kids as soon as she got out so she could pay her fines! Do you REALLY want people of this limited mental, intellectual and moral capacity rampantly breeding???
The witch has probably never done an honest days work in her life! All she needs to do is find some h*rny sucker and lay down! Personally, I'm tired of footing the bill! The easier we make it, the more welfare becomes a way of life and not temporary assistance to those legtimately in need.
Lott represents the other, ugly face of the Republican party. No amount of spin is going to change that. They are racist to the core and all about making huge tax cuts, which by nature benefit the filthy rich more than the middle class.
Reading about Lott's past history, which is spotted with racist remarks as well as actions I think the best thing the man could do now is not only step down from his leadership post but to quit the Senate altogather. Why any Republican would want a known racist part of their party is beyond me.
UTD, I believe that he should stay. It is an excellent opportunity to get all the lefty agenda pursued and getting it done. If he stays as the Leader, he will think twice before voting to appoint conservative judges, and sidelining legislative initiatives that are designed to help the minorities.

Intresting point NY, he did say on BET last night that he can 'move an agenda' to help minorities. Republican Senators are in dubious situation.
But..to sterotype all on the basis of that one person.. Oh... mmm...all the poor deserve their names blackend? Classless beings?
I think I shall always agree with the moderate to liberal democrats..because... as far as legislation involving the poor and minorities...
The democrats have always done a better job. And not because they, wish to keep them poor... (and that easily could be me or you if circumstances dictated) It's because they have attemped to provide for them, and ease their hardship.
