they = some people of the fairer gender (in the longing area) and the idealizing type are quite a bunch including my younger bro,
After going over the thought I believe that I have done "something" in my life to take me to this level.

Just think from a different perspective - get out of living in your own little world, you may find that some people follow you, or have good feelings for you.
My working life has been very succesful, I very rapidly escalated the corporate ladder, went from usual officer to project manager to business development manager, and I never shrink to help out the rookies. Maybe this same attitude is the reason for the followers and idealizers
The fairer gender is another story altogether.
