London to Karachi ... By Road!!!

we thought so.. but i got access to a website which calculated the total fuel cost.. they said the distance was some 3927miles and with fuel prices around 90pence per litre (this is UK price.. fuel is alot cheaper in rest of the europe and offcourse Iran) cost comes up to some $900. but yes they can be much higher depending on the route.. im taking this amount as a rough guidance only.

As for visa, with above mentioned countries we only need visa for Iran. Thanks to European Union we dont need visas for france, germany, austria, hungary and bulgaria. Visa for turkey are issued upon arrival on their border gates.

i agree its very exciting.. its nothing short of an expedition.. and a very achieveable one also!

lolzzz... i know some of my uncles coming to london without any visas in 70s.. and consider getting a UK visa from pak nowadays......................

good to hear RCD is still open.. thanks :)

i saw few pics of MCH on this very website and it was stunning!!! would love to travel on it..

any ideas when the link with jiwani or gabd would be completed??? i visited NHA website and it did show the link with Jiwani and Gabd... also, is it possible if we take this route from Iranshehar to Turbat (i saw on a map showing road link between these two cities) and then connecting to Makran Coastal Highway at Pasni? recommended route or not?

7.5 days!!!! thats is quick.. infact super fast lolz.. u guys did a great job...

so do u reckon this route even now?? and as you may know there are several problems which we cant forsee at the time of planning and arises only once you set out on ur trip.. will b very thankful if u can kindly share them with us :)

I love muscat.. really really want to visit this city but again as i said before.. going through syria n jordan.. and also saudia visa dilemma... hmmm?

iran visa takes upto 3 weeks for processing.. and thats basically the only visa we require.. but yeah the only obstacle is the syria jordan and saudia visa!!!!

i tried google maps but its not working.. do i need to enter some sort of post code in karachi?? also ive got one website called navtaq.. they have maps upto Iran but they are not giving any driving directions.. google maps would be perfect if only i knew how to actually take out the route.. !!!

thank Niksik.. :)

and there certainly are lots of adventures along the way.. we would go through paris, zurich ( if we opt for switzerland instead of germany), vienna, bucharest, Istanbul, Ankara.... cant wait lol

i'll definitely bro.. but i think it'd be better if u could get as many people as possible.. cuts down the cost alot!!!

Thanks for the wish :).. would definitely let u all know abt it INSHALLAH

Asian Highway Network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bro i did this back in 2006 when i left the army. Except it was London to Rawalpindi by any means.

If you want to speed through Iran consider the train because it's very cheap but service is good.
I took the route from London by a different path. i got a boat to Norway across the north sea. Then hired a cab to get me from Ognihvia to the Russian border.
I then had to come through the Russain territories skirting Moscow etc.
There is a Steppes highway across the Urals to central Asia. It's good country for cycling or motorbikes until you hit Kazakstan where roads are very bad. You can then make your way to Pakistan either through the Northwestern passages through Uzbekistsan and Afghanistan, this is too risky but short journey. Or you can hit the long road through Chinese territory to the KKH.

When you going to be coming.

I live in London so i could meet you here?

I wish you best of luck.

If you have a British passport then it's best to use that instead of your pakistani one becuase it carries more political wieght (sadly). Best thing to do is to speak to represantatives from the embassies of the countries you plan to move through. E-mail or phone is best, letters they dont bother with, and they make you stand about for ages if you want to speak to them in person. Most Muslim countries respect pakistani citizens especially Turks but Europeans are more resentfull of us (again a sad fact i have experienced) so be wary while you have fun.

If you have to travel through Iran be aware also of the desert and while this sounds funny keep plenty of water and carry a scarf or turban. If your desperate you can filter water through sand wrapped up in your scarf. (I've had to do it so i hope you don't have to!)

If you can think of us in your prayers brother and if you can stop at any Shrine or sacred site on the way make sure you ask the Wali/Syed Sahib e-Mazaar for help. Trust me they can be of greater help than anyone on this site. If you believe, i hope you do?

Finally and perhaps most importantly, be aware of your suroundings try to avoiding being isoloated on your own ( i know you can look afteryourself, but brother i wouldn't risk it if you know what i mean?) Also keep an open mind and observe things as you travel and respect others.

Oh and did i mention brother?
Have fun whatever you do becuase it's the most important part of any trip!
I hope my advise has helped you.

Take care and may Allah guide you and bring you back safe.

If you have any more specific questions feel free to drop me a PM i'll help you any way i can.

Wassalaam have fun Brother and may you forever find happiness wherever you go.

Enjoy yourself!

Re: London to Karachi ... By Road!!!

^ This is great info' - thank you for sharing this! :)

maybe yeah.. lol but i’d have to resign from my job for this trip :stuck_out_tongue:

brilliant.. thanks Mostar..

Lol..:D Oh well put it on the wishlist then for now..

Bro sab se pehly Jazakallah for your valuable contribution...

Our plan is to buy a 4x4 from London and sell it once we get to Pakistan. Selling over there is not a problem ALHAMDULILLAH.. that is why road is the only means we can travel through (offcourse we need to get the ferry from here to france and then in Turkey)..

with the KKH route.. how long it took you to arrive rawalpindi? i was looking at the map for this route.. when we enter pak from china, won't we be entering via all those Northern Areas currently, literally, under "war"?? also are the roads big enough and suitable for a VW Toureg/Nissan Warrior or a Toyota Land cruiser?

We do intend to use British passport all the way upto and into Pakistan.. I emailed Turkish embassy on Friday regarding RCD Highway though they haven't replied yet.. also I am going to email Pakistan Tourism Development Corp for some assisstance as I understand Border gates wont be available on every single route...

ur advises has definitely helped.. JazakALLAH once again brother.. there is still alot of time left for us to start this tour but i want to be sure of everything and collect as much info as i can beforehand... but INSHALLAH i'll meet u prior to the journey..

i was wondering how long would it take.. ummmmm
