How come this no tax going to impact government, when around 60% or more are indirect taxes.. on petrol, at Customs stage and then Sales Tax (Indirect tax). major part of direct taxes comes from withholding taxes i.e. tax deducted at source (from salaries to air tickets.. from fee to education institutes to marriage halls, everyone is getting payment after deduction of tax at source). Trade bodies have already rejected idea of civil disobedience. I don’t think MQM can do much in this case unless they take the root of strikes and their usual killing spree, which is very unlikely for two reasons:
- Their goti phans chuking with the news of arrest of a political worker in London on account of Imran Farooq case
- they may not want to lose chummy relationship with PPP in Sindh
But still you never know, kabhi bhi kuch bhi ho sakta hai
