Little girls and makeup

Re: Little girls and makeup

I think if the kid has come to the point that she wants makeup then she will notice it on everyone and everything ie barbie. I was crazy for barbies, but I honestly don’t remember even noticing the makeup on it or the fact that barbie is super skinny etc.

Ak12, that’s crazy! Lol an 8 year old with smokey eye makeup and red lips woah!
My aunt just thinks they are mini ladies. She’ll brag about how she saves up to buy them accessories etc. it’s ok to buy accessories, but don’t brag about it in front of them as if it’s all you should think about clothes, makeup etc.

Re: Little girls and makeup

Most mums who are really into makeup draw a line between what they as adults can do and what their children can do.. and kids usually understand that fine..

I think the little girls who are wanting to wear makeup are doing it more because the mums are encouraging them to be into that sort of thing..

If mummy and daddy are driving cars that doesn’t mean the little ones can have a go as well, does it lol

Re: Little girls and makeup

I don’t think it’s that surprising that young girls ask for make up. Kids are curious, test boundaries, and will see what they can get away with. But if you don’t feel it is appropriate, don’t get it. Do you even know if the mother approves of them getting it? Has SHE made the request? Or have they done so independent of her?

Re: Little girls and makeup

Lol SO2 she knows they have made the request. I think it’s a good idea to get play makeup instead maybe, this way they can test their curiosity p, but it still says you are still too young for the grown up version. Maybe that’s a better idea?

Re: Little girls and makeup

my parents used to buy mini-makeup boxes for my cousins whenever we went to pakistan. as i got older, i found out the moms of my cousins specifically requested makeup boxes instead of other girly stuff. mind you, my cousins were my phupho’s daughters and they were all in the age range of 3 to 20.
when i was young, my dad didn’t like makeup and nail polish. he was like no way. now though, he’s a bit relaxed and my younger sisters gets away with wearing nailpolish except for the black colour, hahaha

Re: Little girls and makeup

I like that!

This!

In my home, as a part of getting ready we always saw my mom put on some light makeup but it was never a necessity or an essential part of her life.

We didn’t get to wear makeup until late teens. Even then it was usually only eyeliner or mascara.

Re: Little girls and makeup

Not a mommy but if I have a girl, I will not allow makeup until 19 or 20.

Re: Little girls and makeup

how about for special events?

Re: Little girls and makeup

I think for special events certain products are ok if they are in their teens like eye pencil or lipgloss.

Re: Little girls and makeup

I have pictures of me and my sister wearing makeup when we were kids…like 9 and younger…what were we thinking? Make up looks weird on little girls. I don’t think I would let my daughter wear makeup until high school…and even then…like the later high school years. Or maybe I’ll put her in a Muslim middle and high school where there will be uniforms and makeup. Nah, maybe I’ll just homeschool.

Re: Little girls and makeup

^haha! I think once I discovered a picture of me from when i was probably 3 and someone (not my mom) had put a bunch of makeup on me. That looked freaky and funny once I discovered the picture and my mom recalls my dad being furious.
Lol red velvet Islamic schools are not any better :bummer:.
