True liberation is found in the minds and hearts of people. When men stop objectifying women, only then will they be truly liberated. While some believe it helps, a piece of cloth will not provide this, it's only a symbol of perceived status.
Salaam,
I have been busy with the end of Ramzan and Eid and seem to have missed a lot of exchange in this thread that i started.
Matinee, a lot of mainstream people will disagree with you but i as a 'muhajjiba' can see where you are coming from. I think hijab too like all other things in the society needs a balanced approach. By striking the balance i mean that not all the emphasis and responsibility should fall on the shoulders of the females only.
You are also right when you say that true liberation is found in the minds and hearts and not the outer being. Whats more important, gift box or the item it contains? Veil is an outer covering only. In order for our inner self to be purifeid, we need love of Allah and love of the purified ones, that is his beloved messenger and his Ahlul Bayt who are the best role models.
