^ I just found out that you guys don't get a day off on elections day.
That's either extremely stupid, or an extremely smart way of making sure voter turn out stays low.
One more issue progressives are fighting for. Ensuring low voter turnout is something conservatives spend a lot of money over.
Most people will identify themselves as liberal or conservative over a few issues that they care about. The majority of people are relatively apathetic about a lot of issues. I don't like the labels. People can fall on either end of the spectrum across a variety of issues and labeling yourself as one or the other till the end of time is a bit ridiculous.
I tend to accept people's claims of belonging to a party.
Labels may not matter. But positions one takes on issues do matter.
When Romney visited a coal mine the mine owner forced the workers to attend the visit - without pay. Koch brothers email their employees to vote Republican. There is a CEO in Michigan who benefitted from auto bailout told his workers they would lose their jobs if Obana wins. Climate change deniers are right wing. List goes on.
In this climate it befuddles me how one still thinks that the ones on the Right have a legitimate position on any issue.

Voting takes a couple of hours (with commute time thrown in). And most companies allow time to vote. So why would I need a day off to vote ?

My understanding is the very poor have difficulty in making it to polling stations. Some poor neighborhoods are known to have long lines where wait time is several hours.
Ya see..i don't like to label people nor i would like to be labelled in certain category. I am liberal in some points, moderate in others and likewise conservative in others. I am sure some people here..do think like me.
