I'm curious about Rosetta as well. I'd like to learn Spanish. I think the library has it, might look into it.

Re: Learning another language as an adult..
you can always improve upon your Urdu. :) Urdu is a now, unfortunately, a religious symbol, at least in India. Non Muslims associate Urdu with Muslims which is NOT true...there have been a great number of people in India who are/were a great Urdu scholar/poet and they were non-Muslims. :)
I have a different take on this - so many urdu words are used in everyday Hindi that the line is kind of blurred. I feel Indian Hindi is like Linux - it borrows words fro everywhere and makes a nice Aviyal.

Most Americans appear to know French - at least based on the oft-used phrase "Pardon my French"

I actually want to learn Korean..watching too many dramas already got the hang of some of it…
But Mandarin I think is very tough…good luck!!!
Re: Learning another language as an adult..
Mandarin grammar and sentence structures are much more easier than most of European languages. The most difficult part is not being able to read it, as we more or less can read french, spanish or italian and can have mental images of the words, making them easier to learn.
