Re: LCD Prices

Keep an eye on dealnews.com. I got a 42" Visio LCD HDTV (with 2 HDMI inputs) for about $660. Pretty good price for a 42" LCD. Plasma are power hog, so LCD TV's are gaining in popularity, plus they have no burn-in issue, have improved blacks as well as viewing angles and are now pretty good in well-lighted rooms.

Re: LCD Prices

If you guys dont mind buying locally, i would suggest go through craigslist or kijiji. Recently i went on a CRT → LCD crusade for my house and i replaced 3 CRT’s with LCD’s. All of them bought through craigslist. I got

**15" Dell LCD, **1 year old but mint condition (15" in LCD is like 17" in CRT) for $35 cash. The guy wanted to get rid of it quick cuz he just bought a 42" screen.

**17" SOYO DYLM1798 LCD, **mint condition (Originally bought at Office Depot - 8 months warranty remaining at time of purchase) for $100 cash (asking was $120).

**17" NEC 1760VM **LCD, 1 year old, 1 dead pixel on bottom right corner not noticeable at all **$100 **cash (asking was $120).

Just few days ago i spotted a 17" Dell LCD for $80 on craigslist but it was sold by the time i got to the seller.

Re: LCD Prices

quality wise how does vizio compare to sony, lg etc?

Re: LCD Prices

From a picture quality standpoint, Visio is fantastic. Especially when you are watching HD channels and upconverted DVD's. I am sure Sony Bravia and LG are also very good. I just find them over-priced. If you like the styling of the set (I got Visio Gallevia line of LCD - you can Google it) and it has all the desired connectivity options, you are all set.

Re: LCD Prices

kewl man, i jave see vizio and like the pic quality and all, just did not know about built quality and all. but u do your due diligence so I dont think hat would have been an issue

Re: LCD Prices
