OK, so i went to this exhibition today. they had Sana Safinaz, Sobia Nazir, HSY, Maria B, Lakhani and Sitara Lawn suits.
wanted to see the quality of the material, the best was Sobia Nazir. yeah surprising but true. last years SN wasnt that great, so i didnt bother looking at it.
i was fixated on SS, so went nuts for it. 6B was very dull looking, 1A, the gala is printed, not embroidered.4A was very see thru and dull. the only one that looked good was 13B. the front is all emb, while the bottom is a stain border.
i am glad i didnt pay 9000 for 12a or 12b, even though i they were sold out, looking at the quality of these, i am judging they might not be worth all the hype and extra money.
HSY was very maasi type and cheap looking.
Maria B was also better in person than in the pics. not see thru at all.
hope this helps the over seas pakistanis who dont have access to materials first hand, and pay such a high price for outfits without seeing them.

Bought 4 suits (SS, HSY and SN) this year for the first time. I don't think I'll be buying any designer lawn next year or even for next two years. Though they are very pretty but I don't think it's worth spending that much on lawn. I'll probably stick to sitara or local lawn from now on.

I ordered 2 suits from proto, gul ahmed and elan...I was kinda disappointed with the colors/styles, (obviously not proto's fault) but I am getting so sick of these dhokas that designers/advertisers do to us!

I agree It's dhoka....they enhace the colours in photos and sometimes put this shiny effect to give it a fake glow. When you look at them and feel them in reality they look very average...the HSY one has very poor quality printa, fabric itself is nice but the colours are faded and that makes it look cheapy.

I mean don't get me wrong, they do look nmice on their own, but if u compare to the pix, total disappointment.

Sara could you post pics up so we can compare I bought an élan suit too i hope it will be nice. Hopefully it won't be a dhoka to, I also ordered five star black and white really curious how they will turn out as they were not very expensive.

The above conversation reminds me of how falsely advertised was SS's 2a this year. In all the stitched pics ( I have seen a few by various fb designers) the suit looks so ordinary compared to the modeled pic. Such a disappointment.

D2a wasn't as nice as pics definitely, I actually preferred last years SS prints over this years. I live in Riyadh so I need lawn most of the time of the year. I even feel hot in the winter.

So true. I mentioned it somewhere else too that why's everyone so after 2a, it can't be stitched as in the photo and there's nothing special about the print itself :) But 12a and b were really gorgeous. In fact I like them better in person than in the pics.

I felt pity for an aunty wearing her 12a stitched with zabardast designing(embroidered part on the back and fully pin-tucked plain front for the shirt and all ) in liberty market yesterday. I was thinking itni bhaag daur,chheena jhapti,larai and mehnat ki hogi yeh suit lainay aur silwanay may...aakhir may pehenna tau bazaar he tha na us becharay ko !

I actually loved the quality of 2A's fabric...the way it was shown in the pic was quite deceiving because of the way it was stitched.
SN ones were the most closest to the pics though. But I wouldn't recommend HSY's lawn to anyone.

I personally liked the quality of fabric for all SS suits. I don't think any of them are See through. Even the ones on white base, after shrinking, aren't see-through as such. But what I didn't like much about 2a was the print itself.

^ That is true. Last year I ordered 12A (well it was on eof those REALLY popular ones, the offwhite with black and teal embroidery), lovely suit. I got it through someone and I guess I ordered before it became so coveted... :D but any way, just to give u an idea, I wore black underneath and it didn't show. I like fabrics like that :)
