They look lovely fizzy. Youve got lovely taste missus
Right ladies. I've made it to pakistan after 11 years and I think i'm still in shock. This isn't the country I left behind. All the people driving motor cycles are wearing helmets and we've got a massive shopping mall here in islamabad that has all the shops under one roof.
We got here on saturday so I've been to just a couple of shops so far.
My initial analysis is this. I've had a look at some of the designer lawns and too be honest it aint what it looks like in the magazines. I've bought the famous SS white wala with the blue embroidery because it looked the best in real. I've also bought a yahsir wahid wala. Again it's very simple and only came with 2 motifs.
Khaadi didn't have many suits left. All the good ones are sold out but what I have realised is that living abroad our main options are the designer lawns but actually being here, there are so many different options.
Nishat was pretty good. I didn't like any of their ready made ones but i bought 2 shirt pieces.
My favourite shop so far is called "ethnic by outfitters".They sell ready made lawn shirts at a really good price between 2500 and approx 5000. Really funky designs. I'll post up some pics later.
Chinyere was over priced tat. Quite poor kapra and some naff designs too.
My biggest shock was the sana safinaz shop. I was genuinely expecting the prices to be sky high but i was pleasantly surprised. They were selling ready made lawn and cotton shirts, some western wear but nothing formal yet. (it had only just opened) the shirts were lovely and ranged from 3500 to approx 6500. Again nice designs.
I also went to the "so kamal" shop but wasn't that impressed.
In terms of fashion, i know we ain't the most fashion forward in islamabad but i havent seen a single person wearing the short shirts we've all seen in the magazines. Its still very much the very long ankle skimming shirts or the ones slightly below the knee. But that's not to say that once the real summer kicks in, this won't change. Will b visiting some more shops later today so I will report back.
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
brummie, thanks for the analysis. I might be coming to islamabad before eid. please update ur shopping experience as I might learn from it. and oh where is this massive shopping mall in islamabad? the name?
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
^lifeisfun and Fizza, MA both of your suits are very beautiful. I'm loving the pearl finishing on yours Fizza. Looks great. Is this a new trend because I've seen it on a few elan and now Nishat volume 2 magazine photos.
I have them on my suit too. love it myself
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
Thank you BB, really good to hear back from you. Hope you have a great trip
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
Salam Brummiebird. It's really good to get an insight to the 'real' fashion going ons in Pakistan, especially for us pardesis!!
i think there will still be a mix of short and long shirts as I think some ladies have just become comfortable with the long line as it covers up so much! I know in the UK it will be here for some time because of its modesty appeal. I like both long and short shirts personally and will hopefully end up with a mix for the summer. Keep us posted Brummiebird, it almost feels like I'm there with you.
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
MASHALLAH. Fiza very nice outfits can u plz tell its pearl lace or something else?
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
Nice suits lifeissun & Fizza, may Allah adore you with best clothes in hereafter. Ameen. I will Insha'Allah narrate my shopping experience soon once I will be back as just 4 days to go. Gonna miss my country a lot
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
Gul Ahmed vol 2 is coming to stores on 19th April!!!
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
And I’m going back on that day. Asima jofa coming on 17th and also zeeniya lawn on 19th. I’m happy would save some bucks by not looking into them:biggthumb:
Seriously ladies, every year i'd sit in the uk thinking I'm missing out on all of the lawn exhibitions etc etc but being here in reality I think it's very very different. I have seen some really good single ready made shirts in outfitters, khaadi and junaid jamshed which i'm going to stick with. Apart from one ss and khaadi i wont be getting any three pieces. I have 2 young daughters who like the idea of going shopping with mum but in reality hated every minute of being dragged around clothes shops but equally don't like being left at home when I go shopping so I'm not getting the time to really look at stuff in detail which unfortunately is a little annoying!
Fashion wise, it appears to be "anything goes" I had on a really long shirt today which honestly there is no way I'd wear at home in the uk but here in pak it looks really good so please don't all move to short shirts just yet!
Saadia it’s called centaurus and its massive! It’s four floors of back to back shops. Very clean and clinical and lacking any character. I think i prefer the chaos of jinnah supermarket (main shopping centre) lol
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
heard about the centaurus but then i shop in pindi as i find the prices better there :D
Re: Lawn Collection 2014
Has anyone bought a Firdous lawn suit, how is the quality?
